REALSURF V2.0. COOOOOL!!!!

Posted on July 21st, 2008 in Dee Why.

ROB’S EYE ON DEE WHY MONDAY NIGHT — Hey, this new-look RealSurf page is NICE!

Just had a peek out the window and there’s an erie silence out there. Wind has dropped off to about zero and the swell is well, zero too. Not even the most minute hint of a wave out there. Not a sound.  Weird.

By midday I think it’s gonna be a different story though…

Windang last month — bet that’ll be firing again later today…

The New RealSurf – at last!!!

Posted on July 21st, 2008 in Dee Why, Site News.

Hello Friends,

I can hardly believe it. We’ve finally launched the new version of RealSurf! What a saga it’s been too.

Huge thanks goes out to Ross for his decade long committment to doing the tech stuff on the site. He’s guided us through innumerable upgrades, stayed up late to help me fix some bonehead mistake or tricky script on dozens and dozens of occasions.

The customisation and scripting work on the new site was done by a very capable coder named Radia Latief and the clean, modern look is all down to our long time design guru, the mighty Tim Quinn.

And it looks like Huey’s going to send us a brand new swell too! The Batemans Bay buoy just popped up… I wonder if there’ll be anything obvious tomorrow am…

Cronulla – Flat as a tack

FLAT FLAT FLAT, did i say FLAT?

Cold, windy and flat-but life’s like that before a change

Posted on July 21st, 2008 in At large, Surf Reports.

Cold with blasting NW winds turning SW-surf is micro with an undercurrent of somthing on the way-tomorrow and the next few days look good with the traditional winter S swell-all points N and S should be macking. Bloody hope so-I’m getting fat(ter).

Another micro Monday

Dee Why tiny on Monday morning, but swell's coming...

Hello Friends,

It may be micro at Dee Why this morning, but that will be changing very soon according to the Bureau’s summary issued this morning:

A low in the eastern Bass Strait will deepen significantly during the day whilst moving away to the southeast. This should result in strong to gale force winds about southern and central coastal parts with a slight easing in the north. A large southerly swell will move up the coast as a result of this development, having most influence on the Tuesday.

So, just wait, okay? :-)

The Eden buoy is off the air currently, but the Batemans Bay buoy is showing only a metre, but the period has bounced up from 5 sec yesterday, to 9 sec today. Meanwhile, here in Sydney the settings at the last update of the data were 1 metre of 7 sec period NNE windswell.

The wind is currently out of the NW in Sydney and driving along at 10-15kts. However, it’s going to pick up and the Bureau reckons Sydney will be getting 25-35 kts.

Tomorrow the wind will be from the SW at 20-25 kts and the Bureau says the swell is set to build to 3-3.5 metres from the south.

Sorry about the lack of pics this morning, but we’re planning to flick RealSurf over to a new architecture. As part of that change, the design has also been revamped fairly comprehensively. We were trying to get the new page up last night, but ran into some issues that will probably put it off for a day or two (I hope!). Anyway, for those of you who’d like to see what it looks like, go check out my.realsurf.com.

Have yourself a top old day, and check back because I’ll aim to put together a 6-day surf outlook for ya.
