PM update: slight swell increase
Posted on August 6th, 2008 in Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Your fevered correspondent dragged his sorry carcass up into the crow’s nest for a look at the surf situation and can report that, as expected, things have picked up a bit. Not hugely mind you, but definitely into the surfable range at spots such as Dee Why. The Sydney MHL buoy shows that the average period has bumped up from around 7 to near 9 seconds and that the average size is getting toward the 2 metre mark at sea.
Should mean a few more options this arvo compared to this morning.
Groan… back to the sick bed…
Grey & just about flat
Posted on August 6th, 2008 in Big Picture.Hello Friends,
Ocean looks pretty tiny this morning. A good day to be doing other stuff if you want my opinion. Mind you this comes from someone who is currently beset by a plague of flu devils, so you may want to take that into account.
The numbers are not quite as woeful as yesterday, so it could be that at south exposed spots you might be able to pick up something. Average height at sea of the swell off Sydney is around 1.5 metres from the SSE. Average period is about 8 seconds (marginal) but there is some 10 sec component showing in the peak data. And, I see there’s been a little uptick in size down the coast from us, so it could be that the energy levels will increase a little during the day. Certainly a couple of the forecast models are showing that it’ll pick up a couple of feet today. But then it’s set to drop right back to flatness right through the weekend.
Go well!
Small but increasing at Curly today
Posted on August 6th, 2008 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.1-2 feet at 8.30 but the forecast is for an increasing SE swell at 8 secs with W tending SW strengthening winds by lunch. Should be 3-4 feet by days end. Enjoy.
Dee Why, nup, not happening
Posted on August 6th, 2008 in Dee Why.Dunno what happened–there looked like there’d be a bit of swell happening this morning along with 20 knot westerlies but neither of them seems to have materialised overnight. Tiny little wave out there but nothing you’d be bothered to go chasing–but it does still look like it’ll build throughout the day along with some wind from the SW, so we may see something by afternoon. Cheers, Rob
CC rain due
