Showers and cool

Dee Why looking somewhat less than inspiring.

Hello Friends,

Showery with partly cloudy breaks this morning along the Sydney coastline. From the look of the combined buoy data, our region is doing about as well as anywhere in NSW. And sad to say, that means it must be pretty ordinary elsewhere because our settings are pretty marginal.

There were a couple dedicated bods in the water when I snapped a pic of Dee Why a little before 0800. The MHL data shows around 2 metres of 7 sec south windswell flapping weakly into our region. But it’s smaller and weaker than at all the other buoys.

It looks as though spring has arrived with its onshores and generally weak little windswell conditions. I can’t see much of anything hopeful for us on the forecast models for the near term. Out toward the middle of next week there are some more interesting developments showing in the data. The super computers are currently spitting out numbers that show a broad area of large swell heights right across the Tasman mid next week. At the same time, they’re also showing a big zone of easterly fetch forming up to the NE of New Zealand which then spreads toward our east coast from about Coffs north.

All very interesting…

Go well!

“Swell” Has Three Meanings

Posted on August 28th, 2008 in Bondi, Bronte, Tama.

Ever noticed that swell has three meanings. 1. That which become waves. 2. Really good and 3. Getting bigger. Well today has very small waves, not very good and not getting bigger.

Next season’s parking stickers are starting to appear, so the swap is on again, but I DON’T NEED ANY MORE WARRINGAH STICKERS. Works like this – if you have a spare you want to swap, drop an email to stickerswap@hotmail.com with what you want/have in the subject line, i.e. “Have Pittwater, Want Manly”. If you want to buy a sticker, don’t contact me. Contact the relevant council, or post something in the Realsurf forum. And the surf is small, weak & cold this morning
