Grey skies, wind …what more do you want?
Posted by: Don on September 5th, 2008Hello Friends,
Huey’s behaving more or less as anticipated this morning. It’s pretty rugged looking and when I had my first squizz of the day around 0730, the wind was blowing more or less steadily at 20 kts from the SE. Dee Why was therefore pretty torn up again and although Huey’s bumped up the juice setting to 9 seconds (with some 13 sec stuff in the mix) and the average size is close to 3 metres at sea from the east, nobody was tempted.
From the look of the buoy data, the average size ramps up as you head north from Sydney. Both the Coffs and Byron traces are showing average heights of around 4 metres (with about the same period as we’re seeing around here). Sadly, the further north you go, the more the wind goes around to the east and north east. At 0730 Byron was clocking 25-30 kts from the ENE (blergh).
The outlook for Sydney is not too flash. The Bureau says the wind will push up this morning and by lunch it could be 25-30 kts from the E-SE. On the good side, the swell will keep increasing as it heads to a peak probably in the next 24-36 hours. As the low moves south, the weather persons tell us that the wind will swing more to the S-SW but it’s set to keep blasting along at 20-30 kts.
Overall it looks like another good day to be at work or school.
Go well with your day!
