"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

Saturday morning early call

Hello Friends,

Looks as though early-risers will not be particularly rewarded this Saturday morning. We’re in for a hot, windy day says the Bureau, but sadly those winds will be coming from the NW and therefore not be doing much of anything to improve the already marginal surf conditions. There were a few little waves around the place yesterday at spots that take NE windswell. However, as of late last night, the MHL trace was showing a dropping period (average around the 7 second mark) as the primary direction of the windswell went from ESE Friday morning to the NE.

Well-exposed stretches could see the odd set into the waist high range, particularly early. But as the tide fills in and the wind accelerates later this morning, I’d expect the prospects to dwindle away.

I’ll be along at around 0730 with an update just ahead of my usual weekly surf report on ABC 702 AM radio with Simon Marnie.
