Grey skies and still
Posted on September 23rd, 2008 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Well, no sign of any little south pulse that I can see. At around 0700 this morning there was a single person in the water at Dee Why, and he was on a standup paddleboard. But with all that flotation to deploy, the paddler was still struggling to get into them. Hard to imagine that you could go any better with something smaller.
Wind is light and from the SW along the Sydney coast at the moment. The Bureau is calling for it to be 20-30 kts but slackening toward dark to 15-20 kts. Swell is expected to be 1-1.5 metres from the NE, but I didn’t see anything remotely into the metre range, so clearly the period is very short.
If the models are to be believed, the east coast outlook remains dire through the weekend. There does seem to be some slight hope that we might get some south swell early next week, but we’ll need the continent-straddling highs to relent so that the lows in the southern ocean can get into our window.
Before I sign off for the time being, an alert for those of you looking for an ace wordsmith. Long time RealSurfer Josh Gliddon has heaps of editorial experience at the top of the game as a writer and editor for the likes of the Fin and the Bulletin. If you’re interested, drop me a line via our feedback link and I’ll pass your message along to Josh.
Go well with your day and stay happy!
