Still some little waves about

Hello Friends,

Around 0720 there were light offshores holding up a little windswell in attractive style.

Around 0720 there were light offshores holding up a little windswell in attractive style.

The swell’s still hanging in there along Sydney’s beaches. It’s not looking quite as big as yesterday though. At 0730 as I sit down to write this, we have sunny skies and around 10 kts of N wind. Down at Dee Why there’s nothing going on at the point, but up the beach toward Longy, there are some shoulder high things to be had.

Outlook is for the wind to swing NE and push up to 15-20 kts while at the same time, the clouds are due to arrive and to start percipitating on us.

For some reason the MHL data has stalled since yesterday afternoon, so there’s no objective data to refer to about how things are looking north and south of us. The forecast is calling for the swell direction to move from south to south east around to the east by tomorrow. Then, over the next 24 hours or so, the swell looks as though it could push up into the head high or better range. Thursday morning looks as though it could be interesting in the semi-protected north corners. The south corners are a write off on current prospects, both because of the anticipated swell direction and because the Bureau says Sydney will be looking at 20-30 kts of NE wind (going from the NE around to the NW and backing off a little bit as the day goes along).

From Friday through the weekend the models are less interesting than they were a day or two ago. The latest run has a south pulse materialising early in the new week. But we shall see…

Have yourself a top old day and may all your plans unfold perfectly!

south-west vancouver island

on monday at 4 pm: just rippling around our rivermouth point – needs to be twice as big, to be rideable – there has been steady surfmobile traffic and good weather conditions (lowering skies, fog, wind and rain), so pleasant riding for sure awaits, a little further up the straits – marine winds north-west to 25 knots, at the mouth of the straits – please stay tuned ………

TOW-INS BARRED AT MAVERICKS

SurfingMagazine.com announces:

NOAA makes its decision on the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary; Maverick’s will remain a “seasonal” PWC zone.

We all saw this coming sooner or later. But as of February 2009, it’s official: the days of snagging 60-foot XXL contenders at Ghost Tree or whipping into the tube of your life at Moss Landing are over. In a decision to be announced later this week, officials at the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have closed a loophole in the laws. . .

2-4 foot Waves at Curly

Posted on November 18th, 2008 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.

Great session this morning with some sweeping 3-4 footer righter handers- much the same as last night, maybe a tad smaller.  Winds were just tending offshore when I got out at 7.30am and conditions were looking tasty. Enjoy.

Everybody come to Bondi, I’ve had my surf.

Posted on November 18th, 2008 in Bondi, Bronte, Tama.

Looking at the other reports I expect to see you southies and northies coming to Bondi today. It’s not bad at all, just spent the last 2 hours dodging surf schools and back packers but still worth the effort. Lots of fun close outs but the tide is improving that. Bronte and Tama has some fun waist to shoulders as well.

Yesterday’s southerly swell is still around, but with strong winds out of the NNW you might want to chose your location carefully

MV has a couple of nice little waves coming through, although the banks there at the moment just aren’t working with this direction swell. It’s supposed to swing around this arvo though so hopefully there will be a bit more froth from tomorrow’s report!!
