Micro-ness rules ok
Posted on December 7th, 2008 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Hard to put much of a positive spin on conditions this morning where surfers are concerned. As the picture shows, the situation at Dee Why is, if anything, even less interesting than yesterday. There’s just not much of anything going on anywhere along the NSW coast.
It’d be nice if the weather was a bit less gloomy this morning, but at least it isn’t going to swelter like yesterday. So, it should be comfortable for a visit to the 60 or so Ocean Care Day stalls along South Steyne in Manly today.
And the woeful flatness means that the Ocean Care Day Little Penguin paddle out will be conducted in ideal conditions – ie, no waves and light winds. If you’d like to get involved, all you need to do is turn up with a board and then paddle out with everybody else. I’ll be along with my little camera, trying to get a picture or two. Later, I’ll be joining my fellow Northern Beaches Surfrider Foundation people on our stall.
The wind is due to pick up during the day and be out of the S-SE at 20-25 kts at exposed locations by close of play. Sadly, it does not seem that the swell will get much of a boost. There might be a bit more on offer by tomorrow morning, but the wind will be pretty much onshore (ie, SE-NE 13-18kts). On Tuesday, it’s set to swing around to the NE at 20-30 kts, then Wednesday is currently set to deliver NW wind of similar speeds. So it looks to me as though nothing much in the way of swell is going to have a chance to get established along our stretch of the east coast.
Summertime, in a word.
Go well with your Sunday, wherever you may find yourself!
