Skies of blue
Posted on December 9th, 2008 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Afternoon update to report that there is nothing doing surfwise at North Curly. Went for a bit of a snorkle with PB instead and came back with a few pictures to share. Not surfing, I know, but at least they’re taken in the water! I discovered by accident that if you can shoot from beneath your subject with a flash, you get quite a nice background effect. As usual these snaps were taken with my trusty Olympus 725SW.
from this morning….
The northern Northern Beaches had a little fog to start with this morning, but off to the south the sun was shining. And the Bureau says that sunny skies with some high cloud later is what we have on tap for Sydney today.
But on the surf front, the conditions remain very marginal – at best – where Dee Why’s concerned. We have a short period E to NE windswell struggling feebily in. It’s probably bumbling along at around the metre mark out at sea, but on the beaches, I reckon you’d be going very well if you got something in the waist high range.
That said, the Bureau has posted a strong wind warning for the N-NE wind to build through the day and be in the 20-30 kts range by this evening. If that happens, then you’d be in with a chance for something shortboardable for the late at those semi-protected north corners that we so often inhabit during the summer months.
Tomorrow the wind’s set to be more around to the N and NW ahead of a 20-25 kt south change during the late morning. The models aren’t showing the change packing much punch though. Because it’ll be dead south and short period, I’d expect it to be pretty much flat most places.
Thursday looks as though the windswell might swing a touch more to the east, but there’s no sign in the runes for the period or the size to improve much, if at all.
Aw well, Huey will come back. He has been for around 4,000,000,000 years, so all we have to do is show a little patience…
Go well with your day!

Posted on December 9th, 2008 in Bondi, Bronte, Tama.Crystal day but no swell. That isn’t stopping a large crew from bobbing around out the back at Bondi though. A few at Bronte reef and a couple trying to body surf Tama’s tiny left off it’s reef too. Just get wet any way!
1 foot of weak mush
Posted on December 9th, 2008 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports. Not worth surfing again this morning but a great start weather-wise. Can’t see any decent swell on the horizon either- lots of short period wind slop on the charts.
mONA vALE
Posted on December 9th, 2008 in Mona Vale. There’s not much worth talking up about the waves this morning, it looks extremely fat and small. Low tide could be an option, but it look like a better day for just mincing on the sand working on the tan

Fine, dry and mild on the Central Coast this Tuesday morning. The swell is weak and small at 1 – 2 feet from the east. There is a light north northwest breeze forecast to go northeast later. High tide 0550 and low tide around 1210. Local barometer 1005 hpa, 97% humidity, 17 degrees C. Have a good one.
