Sunny, windy, small
Posted on December 10th, 2008 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Not much of anything happening at Dee Why, but it is slightly better than yesterday and from the look of PB’s pics, spots with NE exposure could have the odd catchable one.
The Bureau says we should have S-SE wind of 20-30 kts this morning, easing later to 15-20 kts. Thing is, at 0800 the wind was coming from the SSW at 20-30 kts – depending on where you were standing, so not too certain when/if it’ll swing to the less friendly SE.
Outlook for tomorrow is for more S-SE wind in the morning, swinging to the east in the evening. This morning’s 1-1.5 metres of NE swell, should go around to the SE as the day goes along and maybe even build up a touch. But it’ll be short period windswell, so I’m not getting too hopeful about the quality.
Been working on numerous fronts around the site – as usual – and I could use some feedback on one of the projects. If you have an iPhone or other web capable mobile device, I’m looking for some feedback about how www.m.realsurf.com comes up. Just check it out and lemme know what you think via an email to don at realsurf dot com. Thanks in advance!
Oh, and I’m also playing around with Twitter again. My handle is mr_realsurf if you’re into that kinda stuff!
Have yourself a top old day!

Well, the wind has swung more southerly since I looked earlier this morning. So, what you’d need is a place that likes weak NE windswell with a strong wind from down below

Posted on December 10th, 2008 in Central Coast, Surf Reports.Fine, dry and muggy on the Central Coast this Wednesday morning. The swell is weak and small at 1 – 2 feet from the east northeast. There is a light south southwest breeze forecast to go southeast later. High tide 0640 and low tide around 1315. Local barometer 999 hpa, 95% humidity, 16 degrees C. Have a good one.
Samoan surf report for week 49 of 2008

WEEKLY REPORTS for 2008
Report No: 49-08
Period: Monday1st to Sunday 7th December 2008
Monday. High tide 9.02am. Not great conditions on Samoan standards this morning but a few guests went for a paddle out the front at Resorts. The south east wind didn’t help but they still scavenged the odd left and right surfing for an hour about shoulder high sets.
Tuesday. High tide 9.53am. Better conditions this morning so they headed out to Pebbles to find shoulder high barrels. The inside section was tubing and very makeable and with only two surf guests, plus guides, the offshore winds, waves and sunny skies meant an unreal start to the day. They surfed for about 3 hours.
Wednesday. High tide 10.52am. With a new east swell and not much swell on the south shore they shot across to the north shore to surf The Rock. It was head and a half high and had clean offshore winds, which was allowing 2 or 3 turns on the workable faces. Pretty consistent and no one on it, surfed for 3 hours and loved it.
Thursday. High tide 11.52am. After being rewarded for yesterday’s mission the crew opted to try the same plan again. When they arrived it looked awesome, but as soon as they hit the water it went onshore and all funky. Still it was the same size as the previous day and a few OK waves. Nothing flash but still an uncrowded surf in nice hot weather.
Friday. High Tide 12.47pm. After a hot brekkie the crew boated out to see what was on offer. Special K was first stop and it was going off in head high sets with perfect shape. Some barreling while the others were lining up quite long allowing up to 4 reo’s a wave. The 3 guests soaked it up by surfing for 5 hours and each one scored some sick, memorable waves. A bit of sunburn was fixed with a few Vailimas.
Saturday. High tide 1.36pm. About lunch time a paddle out at Resorts in small but was really clean conditions and it ended up being really fun. Heaps of lefts and rights which were smashable allowing 3 of them to get a heap of good ones in a 2 hour surf.
Sunday. High tide 2.24pm. Another big day in the water left our two surfing guests exhausted. They boated out to Special K and with light offshore winds and sets about head high it was good – real good. It was lining up well and offering a few barrels and some really long rides. After about 2 hours in the water the wind disappeared so they headed over to get a few lefts at Pebbles which was surprisingly good given the swell direction. The back peak was the spot with sets up to head high and linking through little power sections. Surf for almost 3 hours till there was nothing left in the tank.
Photos Unfortunately no photos this week, don’t know why.
