Surf forecast issued Friday 26 december 2008: Seven day outlook for Sydney:  Continuing small surf into the weekend but there will be some nice little waves at times at places that like North east windswell.

Saturday:about 1 metre North East…little bit more in the arvo.

Sunday:about 1 metre in the morning, rising from the North east -with fresh wind – in the arvo.

Monday: leftover North East windswell, about 1 metre, withW/NW wind ahead of a S/ SE change.

Tuesday: about 1 metre at places that like dead South swell.

Wednesday: in the 1-2 metre range dead South

Thursday : (New Year’s Day) smaller…from the Northeast in the morning

Friday: 1-2 metres at places that like dead South swell.

on thursday at 3 pm: up to shoulder-high at the spit – long, smooth, decent lines – i caught three easy, extended rides – nice christmas surprise !! it is rare that there is anything surfable at the spit, a minor landmark, forming the only west-facing beach around – our recent, freakish, heavy snowfalls have begun to recede, but also to freeze over, rendering unpalatable the half-hour drive through near-wilderness to the nearest regular surfable beach – today, a very few brethren were bounding gladly down the spit to jump in, and i joyfully followed – water not yet too cold – excellent conditions are likely to await intrepid drivers, further up the straits – welcome to dan and mike kindly visiting me from afar !! happy kwanzaa to all ! merry christmas ! jolly hanukkah and eid al-adha too !! **********- am i a harp that the hand of the mighty may touch me, or a flute that his breath may pass through me? – k gibran …. ….

Groundhog Day

Well, it’s supposed to be Boxing Day, but the reality is that it’s more like Groundhog Day. If you saw it yesterday, it’s the same today.  Flat flat flat. Might get better over the next few days, but not looking promising for today, although looks like the wind will be perfect later today for the Sydney to Hobart once they get going. Cheers, Rob
