It really doesn’t matter that this photo is so blury, cause the waves weren’t really breaking this morning, should be worth a look during the day when the tide is lower!

Flat as a Tracks magazine.

No surf but this. “Skim board report”. Bronte and Tama too deep. Bondi has a good long and ankle deep shore line in the middle. Maccas if you have a skim board made by Hummer.

Narrabeen Rpt

LOCAL SIGHTING OF ENDANGERED SPECIES, Narrabeen 7am 23.1.9. A man, apparently standing upon & riding a surfboard, has been photographed at Narrabeen Bch this morning. The NPWS are keen to speak to the man, since they claim this activity has not been conducted at any Sydney beach for over a month. An EPA spokersperson said the prolonged flat spell was threatening local surfers’ natural habitat, and consequently many had left the Sydney area in search of sustenance. PB from Realsurf was heard to comment “That’s not a wave. That’s a joke”

Fine, dry and warm on the Central Coast this Friday morning.  The swell is smooth, weak and small at 1 – 2 feet from the east northeast.  There is a very light northwest breeze forecast to go northeast and strengthen later with a hot day.  High tide 0715 and low tide around 1410.  Local barometer 1004 hpa, 92% humidity, 21 degrees C.  Have a good (Australia Day) weekend.

Samoan Surf Report for week 3 2009 from Sa’Moana Resort

Report No:    03-09

Period:           Monday 12^th till Sunday 18^th of January

Monday.  High tide 7.48am.  Out @ Resorts for an early which was real peaky offering good lefts & rights. Everyone got a few barrels & plenty of turns. They surfed for about 3 hours in the morning and then about 2 hours in the arvo. Again more turns than barrels & longer rights than lefts. Head high sets.

Tuesday.  High tide 8.39am.  Pretty much the same as yesterday, again longer rights than lefts, not too many barrels mainly turns. With a heap of west in the swell Resorts was pretty much the pick of waves on the whole island.  

Wednesday.  High tide 9.30am.  Today they headed over to Tiavea to try the Rivermouth. It had head & a half high sets, way better rights than lefts, a few barrels & a heap of manoeuvres on offer could be done. Only 3 guests out & they were all stoked with there 3 hours in the water.

Thursday.  High tide 10.31am. Once again back out Resorts for a morning session which was head high & still heaps of west in the swell, making longer rights than lefts. Not epic but still a heap of fun with only 5 guys out.

Friday.  High Tide 11.36am.  Boat trip to Pebbles cause the west wind of the past few days was gone & had swung back to easterly. Head high with a few bigger sets meant there were some round spitting barrels to be pulled into on the inside. The outside section had some nice long waves also. Our body boarding guests were super stoked & lapped it up for 4 hours.

Saturday.  High tide 12.41pm. They headed off to Tiavea today & surfed Missions which was head high & really barreling hard. Super sucky takeoffs and a few closeouts meant wave selection was important, if you waited a little there were some perfect tubes to get into. Well worth the mission to get there.

Sunday. High tide 1.42pm.  Y Tops was the go today & it was on.  Head high and real glassy with long lined up swell producing some sick waves. Only 5 in the water for more than 5 hours & got a heap of great waves. It was rippable on some allowing you to do 3 or 4 turns, while others had perfect pits. Everyone real happy with there surf.

Sorry no surf shots this week, all our cameras are trashed & hopefully we’ll have some new cameras by early February. BUT I have attached a shot of our fav part of the south side reef looking east from just east of Sa’Moana right thru to Boulders headland. So if you know where to look you can locate Special K’s, Pebbles, Wakas, Barra’s, Coco’s, Inside and Outside Siumu, Sa’Aga Rights and Boulders. There are a few are a few other potentials in this strip that we haven’t surfed yet.  Enjoy !!!

Samoan Surf Report for week 2 2009

WEEKLY   REPORTS  for    2009

Report No:    2-09

Period:              Monday 5^th till Sunday 11^th of January.

Monday.   High tide 1.53pm.  No surfing today with quite a small swell up to waist high but really clean.

Tuesday.   High tide 2.49pm.   Still small waves out @ Resorts  so they headed to the North Side to Tia Vea. An east wind meant the only option was Missions which was waist to shoulder high with a few bigger ones. A bit of a slow start but it got a heap better with a rain squall making turning the wind fully offshore. The 2 guests happy and guide very with the surf.

Wednesday.  High tide 3.45pm.  Again tiny waves and swell so no surfing today.

Thursday.  High tide 4.40pm.  After a relaxing morning, a paddle out at Resorts was on the cards for after lunch. Waist to shoulder high rights were on offer, a little small but very surfable and fun.

Friday.  High Tide 5.16am & 5.33pm.  Dawn patrol to Tia Vea, which, oddly for the prevailing conditions was completely blown out at 6am. A boat trip to Coconuts in the arvo also was average and they ended up back at Resorts which was by far the pick on pretty much the whole island. Real west swell making some extremely long rights which were racey for 50 or more meters.

Saturday.  High tide 6.08am & 6.27pm.  Resorts was the spot for an early and was clean and head high. Fun rights mainly but still a few lefts about, and the crew got a few hours in the morning. Followed by an arvo session which looked like it was going to be all time. Real peaky with long rights & sucky lefts with quite a few barrels & again a heap of turns were done. Everyone got a heap of great waves and were stoked as.  

Sunday.  High tide 6.59am & 7.18pm.  Again out Resorts which got better as the day went on. 2 guests surfed for about 3 hours first thing in the morning and were straight back out there as soon as the tide was high enough. Pretty much smoking with offshore wind and consistent lefts & rights. A few barrels but mainly a heap of turns and because of the westerly swell the rights were super long. Head and a half high sets and great shaped waves meant the whole crew at Sa’Moana were stoked.

Report No: 1-09

Period:    Monday 29^th December 2008 to Sunday 4^th January 2009

Monday.  High tide 7:52 am. Moderate to strong SE winds & not a lot of swell on the south side and most places on the North side looked less than ordinary. The crew ended up getting some great little waves at Missions. It was about shoulder high with a few sucky barrels and lots of walls for doing turns and the wind was offshore so nice and clean.

Tuesday.  High tide 8:29 am.  An early surf out @ Resorts where the waves weren’t exceptional but still quite fun. The swell was peaky and about head high, and clean for the first few hours until a slight wind come up around 9:00am.

Wednesday.  High tide 9:10 am.  Average conditions. No one wanted to go exploring to try and find any waves. So an R & R day at Sa’Moana.

Thursday. High tide 9:58 am. New Years – Hang over day – Everyone was busy sleeping and not surfing.

Friday.  High Tide 10:53 am.  A boat trip to Pebbles saw only small waves with sets up to head high. Fun little waves with a few barrels at the start of the session until he wind swung after a couple of hours to onshore so they moved around to Wakas. Super clean but only small, less then waist high. And only surfed for only 15mins till other crew turned up. Back to Pebbles for a few more before the tide dropped out of it.

Saturday.  High tide 11:54 am.  Again to Pebbles which was smoking in head high perfection and  with bigger sets. Tones of barrels & heaps were spitting and  most of the session fully offshore but occasionally the wind would swing around, but cause it was light it didn’t affect the waves. With only 3 out they surfed for 5 hours. Everyone was fully stoked.

Sunday.  High tide 12:54 pm.  The swell dropped overnight so they headed over to Coco’s. It was only shoulder high but awesome shape, some barrels and some racey ones. There was a bit of a crew on it but again but our gang had a 5 hour sesh so they ended up with 2 hours of just 3 of them on it. Another great day of good waves.

Don’t get me wrong, the surf today is small, fat and pretty dam useless when it comes to wave quality, but Mona actually has some nice waves if you can be bothered sitting around waiting for them. The photo might look a bit better than what it actually is though!
