Far North Collaroy
Posted on February 8th, 2009 in South Narrabeen.Wish I could tell you that it was worth a surf at far south Narra, but I’d be steering you wrong. About the best thing you can say is that the sets are shoulder high and no one is out. Sadly, they’re shoulder high only at the point where they are shutting down in a long, junky and totally unmakeable wall. Would be quite fun if there were any banks. Wind is getting into it pretty severely now too and that NE’r of the last few days has really knocked the water temps back. I reckon it’s closer to 18 than 21.
Go well!
Dee Why–the usual dribble
Posted on February 8th, 2009 in Surf Reports.Photo says it all. Weak NE windswell. Should be heaps better by tomorrow then even better on Tuesday with swell hanging around for the rest of the week. ![]()

Weak & messy & small

Be nice if there was a little more in the way of waves (0800)
Hello Friends,
Radio is crackling with the early reports of the terrible fires in Victoria. Sounds pretty bad; over 20 fatalities, 400 fires, record high temps (46!!) and winds. Here’s hoping the worst of it has happened. If you’re worried about family or friends there, you can call the CFA on 1800 727 077.
It’s set to be hot here as well, particularly for those of you out west. Bureau says Penrith could get up to 43 today, so I’d guess there will be a fair number of folk making their way out to the seaside where the high is set to be around 33.
Surfin’ conditions look pretty marginal. It’s pretty much the same as yesterday, ie NNE about a metre at a weak 6 seconds. Here’s the marine forecast for Sydney this morning:
Wind: NE 13/18 knots increasing to 18/23 knots in the afternoon before a S’ly change 20/25 knots in the evening.Sea: 2 to 2.5 metres. Swell: E/NE 1 to 2 metres.
At 0830, wind was light and from the NE and we’d just gone past high tide, so most places were pretty full as well as being small.
Dee Why looked to be around knee to waist high – at best. I might dodge out shortly for a look at the Collaroy-Narra stretch…
Stay cool, stay safe and go well.
