Can anyone help Don with coding issue?

Posted on February 11th, 2009 in Big Picture.

Sorry to stick this up on the main page, but your webmaster is going spare trying to figure out why the forums have slowed down to a ridiculous extent.

If you have experience debugging and tracking down such issues and can offer me a little advice or help, please get in touch with me at don (at symbol goes here) realsurf.com. Or if you’re into Twitter, I’m mr_realsurf there.

The forum script is phpBB3

And to all our Forum users, I’m doing my level best to sort out the issue, but as just noted, I’m out of my depth on this.

Cheers,

Don

Wave hunt part 2

This morning on the incoming tide not too amazing at Curl Curl.

This morning on the incoming tide not too amazing at Curl Curl.

Bit of a delay between observation and report. Had to do a meeting. You know how it is. Anyway, after leaving Dee Why, I came over the hill to find Curly was just as fat and marginal. A few bods were in the water, but you wouldn’t say it was all that impressive. Long waits were the order of the morning, and when the waves came they were pretty weak. Only a few folk in the water giving it a go.

Looking less than fabulous at fabo Freshwater.

Around the next corner at Freshie, the wind was into it and the conditions were only good enough to  attract a couple people on longboards. Even a real fan of the spot wouldn’t feel hard done by to have missed it this morning.    On to Manly then. And there it was also severely affected by the tide and the south swell direction. There were one or two hopeful types bobbing about down at North Steyne. No one was bothering with Queenscliff and a little group was working an extra micro peak just next to the stormwater pipe. Basically looked like a get wet exercise more than anything else.

Looking for a head dip on a knee high wave near the stormwater outfall.

Dee Why: Where are the waves???

Posted on February 11th, 2009 in Surf Reports.

Despite the forecast and the charts, nothing of consequence making its way into Dee Why this morning. Dunno what’s going on.

Dee Why, off behind the pool: wind, but no waves.

flat today

There is nothing left of the swell we’ve see over the last couple of days here at Manly. Just little waves lapping at the shore. Either the swell is going right past us or there is is no swell. It’s high tide at present, perhaps it may improve as the tide drops but I doubt it.

Hunting waves, pt. 1 WWD-DY

Hello Friends

Usually ordinary, but today one of the pick spots.

Usually ordinary, but today one of the pick spots.

First stop for me this morning was at Warriewood, which, as it turns out so far in my travels, had the best waves I’ve seen. They aren’t affected by the SSW wind and there are a few okay ones getting in for the quickly growing crew. Best wave I saw was around the shoulder high mark on the take off, but there were others of similar size coming in and it seemed reasonably consistent.

The only question mark where Warriewood’s concerned is the possible effluent issues from the outfall thanks to the rain we had overnight.

Northy all alone and empty for anyone who fancies a solitary sesh.

Northy all alone and empty for anyone who fancies a solitary sesh.

From there I swung by Turrimetta which had okay size on the sets but was rendered less than attractive by the wind and lowering grey skies. No one was in the water. Around the corner at North Narrabeen the story was similarly dismal. Again, no one in the water because it was just so woeful. Choppy, messy, fat, you name it and Northy was doing it – or not doing it.

Given the dire state of Northy, I didn’t bother to check south Narrabeen. Saw a couple bods in the water at a perfectly calm looking Collaroy (sets maybe?). Around the corner at Long Reef the conditions were similar to yesterday, ie strangely subdued and unstrangely wind affected. Nothing was showing on the bombies nor it seemed out along the south side of Long Reef.

Well up the beach toward Longy there seemed to be a little peak at around 0830.

Well up the beach toward Longy there seemed to be a little peak at around 0830.

Dee Why was small too. Nothing doing at the point, but there was a small crew jagging little things up toward the pole. Didn’t seem quite as big as Warriewood, but I’m sure there’d be the odd set for the dedicated crew.

Next stop, Curly…
