What the Bureau says
Posted on February 20th, 2009 in Big Picture.Friday dawns in Sydney with more surf in prospect. The swell’s gone a little more to the SE and it’s still close to the two metre mark we had yesterday, but the period’s bumped up to 9 seconds.
Here’s the Bureau’s call for the day ahead on the waters off Sydney.
Wind: SW/SE 10/15 knots, tending SE/NE 10/15 knots during the afternoon, NE 5/10 knots at night.Sea: 1 to 1.5 metres, abating to less than 1 metre at night. Swell: E/SE 2 to 2.5 metres decreasing to 1.5 to 2 metres later. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms.
I’m off for a closer look, so stay tuned for a few pics and such over the next hour or so.

Byron Bay Feb 19 / 09

Huey sent it all in at once In Byron Bay Today. The rain cleared, the sun appeared and people came out to play as a new swell arrived in the bay. But it wasn’t really the surf that good. Sure it had some size, but it was lumpy and slow at best. The big gig in Byron was energy of an entire town seeming to rise from a trance like state induced by several days of rain. There was almost a sense of urgency among the many that wanted, or should I say needed to get to the beach and have a few waves in the sunshine, In Byron Bay Today.
