Small, weak, full and barely breaking
Posted on February 21st, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.1 foot of SE swell with light wind that is too fat to break at the moment- maybe on the low tide this arvo but nothing right now. Looks like small for the rest of the week. Enjoy.
Grey skies, glassy smooth, but…
Posted on February 21st, 2009 in Big Picture.Hello Friends,
Interesting – though not in a good way. If you look at the MHL buoy, the swell doesn’t seem much changed from yesterday. It’s still showing around the 1.5 metre mark, still coming from the SSE and still about 8-9 seconds apart. And yet… And yet it is really, really small. As in almost flat.
There’s no wind to speak of at 0715, but the Bureau says we can expect NE-SE breezes getting up to 10-15kts this afternoon.
I checked the Collaroy-Narra stretch and the Longy-Dee Why sweep and saw only a couple folks in along each of those beaches. Waves were knee to waist high at best. And you had to be exactly on the bank, because there are long stretches of flat water between you and the next peak.
Apart from the grey skies, it looks like a great day to get along to Rat Park Narrabeen for 10 hours of tunes, food, drink and frivolity. Heaps of bands will be playing across three stages, plus Surfrider Foundation will be there dispensing the good word. I’ll be behind the table, so stop by and say hi. You can get all the details here.
I’ll try to update again later, so check back!
