Weed barrels anyone?

Seaweed soup!

Some small clean waves are around, but so is the dreaded stinky weed!

Date = Tue, 14 Apr 2009
Time = 09:30 AM
Location = Padma – Legian
Size = 4 ft
Surfers = 4
Tide = mid to high
Wind = onshore wind
Weather = bright
Water = white and glassy
Wave = overhead but most closing, not really consistent and powerful
Legian: High tide at Legian can serve up some of the most power-packed beachbreaks in the world. Always bigger than Kuta, although it usually closes-out on low tide. It also closes out on high tide if the swell is over 8 feet. Because Legian is in the curve of the beach, it collects the compressed energy of all swells. If Kuta is only 3 foot, sometimes Legian can be mignificent at 4 – 6 foot. A handy hint is that Kuta Reef is often about the same size at Legian. A hot crew of young Bali locals surf here regularly, so smile, share and be friendly to enjoy your sessions here.

It’s nice and clean for the takers this morning! Pretty small but super clean and fun so get out there!
A few piccies
Posted on April 14th, 2009 in At large, Dee Why, Gardens, Long Reef.Made a quick circuit at around 0700. Looked amazingly uncrowded everywhere. What goes on?? Saw a surprisingly large set wave at Dee Why (see the pic), but I really can’t believe that is anything like the average size one. Everything else seemed to be closer to waist high. Speaking of which, there were a couple of bods up at Longy finding some diversion in conditions of the aforesaid size. Around at the Collaroy Narra stretch it looked to be smaller than yesterday, but not bad at all. Seemed to be more waves down the southern end of Gardens than up at the Northy end, but I’m guessing there will be little peaks along the entire stretch.
Bodes well for elsewhere it has to be said…
C C Small & Smooth
Posted on April 14th, 2009 in Central Coast, Surf Reports.
Light cloud cover, dry and warm on the Central Coast this Tuesday morning. The swell is smooth and small at 1 – 2 feet from the east northeast. There is a light north northwest breeze forecast to go northeast later. Low tide 0530 and high tide around 1120. Local barometer 1012hpa, 98% humidity, 17 degrees C. Have a good one.
Little line showing
Posted on April 14th, 2009 in Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Waiting for enough light to take a picture. In the meantime, I can tell you that there seems to be a line showing through the gloom at Dee Why. The MHL buoy for Sydney is off the air, but I reckon it’d be around the metre mark on a period of 7-8 seconds. So, pretty similar to yesterday when there were a few sets to be had in the waist high range.
Next tide is a high at 1119.
Here’s the Bureau’s call:

Byron Bay Easter Windup 13th April 09
Posted on April 14th, 2009 in Byron, Cool Picks, Just for fun, Local Colour, Surf Reports, Weather.
Last day of the Easter weekend and it’s pissing down In Byron Bay Today. Anybody out there tired of the rain yet? I know there’s not much point whining about it, It’s not like we can make it stop. But geez Huey it’s pretty moist here in the bay. Really though, anyone that’s been here long enough knows Easter + Byron Bay = Rain. It’s an equation that’s rarely wrong. You’ve only got to look at all the street hawkers selling box loads of gumboots to the Bluesfest punters, to figure it out. Why does it seem to nearly always rain at Easter, who knows? One could say it’s seasonal, but the date of Easter changes every year. Maybe it’s Huey’s strange sense of humour just drenching the Bluesfest repeatedly for laughs. Perhaps it’s a chemtrail conspiracy from evil reptilian hipster gumboot manufacturer’s hell bent on world mudination. Whatever it is, no doubt it’ll pass. The sun will shine again, the silt will settle and the water will clear up. But until then enjoy the differing colours and moods on offer, after all life would be pretty boring if it were always postcard perfect In Byron Bay Today.
