Samoan Surf Report for week 16 of 2009 from Sa’Moana Resort

WEEKLY REPORTS for 2009

Report No: 16-09
Period: Monday 13th till Sunday 19th April.

Monday. High tide @ 9.19am. A very solid south swell increased overnight, but it was really disorganized & wobbly. They all thought we were in for a great session but nowhere was really doing it. They surfed Pebbles @ head and a half high, with some good ones but it was all over the place. Checked Wakas which had a weird wobble on it also.

Tuesday. High tide @ 10.11am. Straight over to over to the Rivermouth today which was offshore & clean. Lefts & rights which allowed a couple of turns on head high sets and was quite consistent so everyone had a great morning.

Wednesday. High tide @ 11.12am. Back over to the Rivermouth again. Similar to yesterday with better rights than lefts. Really clean with not much wind and head high and great carvable walls, only a few barrels.

Thursday. High tide @ 12.18pm. 2 boats out today. One going to Pebbles which was shoulder high and clean but it had a little wobble thru it but there were a few fun ones thru the inside but a bit inconsistent. The other boat went to Y-Tops which was head high and the wind was cross shore but it was still really surfable. The crew made the most of it and surfed for 4 hours straight.

Friday. High tide @ 1.19pm. An early boat trip to Boulders this morning which looked like it was just big enough to break, but then a few beauties pushed through showing its true grit. No barrels but some long racy walls, a little inconsistent but the guys loved it. Then over to Wakas for the high tide which was unreal when they first arrived but a crowd came (5 guys) and the wind got into it, so they only had an hour on it.

Saturday. High tide @ 2.12pm. Up to The Island today due to the south east wind. A bit of a rough ride up but it was really clean once they got there. A little sectiony but if you picked them there were a few gems with a few bomb double overhead sets mainly on the middle and end sections. They surfed there for 3 hours Then stopped off at Pebbles on the way back for another surf in waist to shoulder high but it was clean and had nice shape.

Sunday. High tide @ 2.57pm. Another bumpy boat trip back to The Island but the swell had dropped off considerably with sets lucky to be head high. Not as good a session as the last few days but still heaps of fun in an amazing place.
