Dee Why: Backed off significantly, but still breaking
Posted on April 25th, 2009 in Dee Why.First thing this morning it was all-time at Dee Why. Everything from First Rock to Longy firing in all cylinders. Of course within 10 minutes of heading out for a wave it dropped as the wind ramped up to about 20 knots from the west. Still a few waves around at 1445hrs but the sets are becoming increasingly infrequent.
Here’re some shots from around 11 this morning.

Date = Sat, 25 Apr 2009
Time = 09:30 AM
Location = Padma – Legian
Size = 3-4 ft
Surfers = 10 surfers and come in right-left Padma
Tide = high tide
Wind = cross/offshore wind
Weather = bright sky
Water = strong flow
Wave = Padma more swells, but not many quality wave, powerful. Right Padma where there is consistently peak was bit bigger and better
Legian: High tide at Legian can serve up some of the most power-packed beachbreaks in the world. Always bigger than Kuta, although it usually closes-out on low tide. It also closes out on high tide if the swell is over 8 feet. Because Legian is in the curve of the beach, it collects the compressed energy of all swells. If Kuta is only 3 foot, sometimes Legian can be mignificent at 4 – 6 foot. A handy hint is that Kuta Reef is often about the same size at Legian. A hot crew of young Bali locals surf here regularly, so smile, share and be friendly to enjoy your sessions here.
EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted on April 25th, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.It’s EPIC everywhere- go surfing! Curly is currently (2pm) 4-6+ foot sets (double O) ESE swell, NW offshore winds and absolutely cranking with classic long lines, long period, strong offshore winds and a fair crowd in tow for good reason. Dee Why was good and crowded, Narra was packed, Manly Ditto but all guns are blazing. Enjoy.

Paddle boarder pushing his luck at the Bombora (it ended badly)

- To close in waves this size. Not his day (the guy about to be hit)

- Queensie right
Another big day here at Manly with action along the whole stretch. A couple of guys even trying the bombora with no success. The rides are mostly short but there are some memorable rides happening out there. The wind strong and blowing off shore still so the waves are holding up but seem to have dropped off in size in the last hour.

Looks solid on Coll-Narra
Posted on April 25th, 2009 in Collaroy.Watched Coll-Narra stretch for awhile this morning, took some pics, but due to glitch, can’t upload them until later. Very heavy at Gardens, heaps in at Northy, with wave faces ranging from head high to well overhead. More approachable down at Collaroy where sets aren’t much above the shoulder high range. That’d be one of the few places suitable for intermediates. Couldn’t recommend anywhere I’ve seen to beginners. Going out to take a few snaps and will probably file a vid report at some point, so check to see if the date bottom right has changed.
more later!!

Fine, dry and cool on the Central Coast this Saturday morning. The swell is smooth and consistent at 2 – 4 feet + from the east. There is a light west northwest breeze which should strengthen later. High tide 0810 and low tide around 1400. Local barometer 1000hpa, 90% humidity, 13 degrees C. Have a good Anzac long weekend.
