Looking good this morning
Posted on May 12th, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Coming together very nicely at first light. Yeah, it was cold, but light NW’ly wind fanning 2-3 metres of 12 sec period SE swell, is going to make for pretty pictures all over Sydney this morning.
Dee Why goes well with this combo and a sizable crew were on the super peak from early. Sets were overhead and it was looking very clean when I snapped the pictures below.
We’re heading toward a high tide at 1015 this morning, so between now and then you can obviously expect things to fill in. With luck though, this afternoon the wind won’t get too far around to the SE in the afternoon, and conditions will stay clean and solid all day.
Here’s the Bureau’s latest call:
Sydney Coastal Waters, Broken Bay to Port Hacking and 60nm seawards:
Tuesday until midnight: Wind: SW/SE 10/15 knots. W 5/10 knots early inshore. Sea: 1 to 1.5 metres. Swell: S/SE 2.5 to 3 metres.
Wednesday: Wind: W/SW 10/15 knots. Sea: 1 to 1.5 metres.Swell: S/SE 2.5 to 3 metres.
Thursday: Wind: W 15/25 knots

Fine, dry and cold on the Central Coast this Tuesday morning. The swell is substantial and smooth with a lot of water movement at 3 – 6 feet from the southeast. There is a light west southwest breeze forecast to turn southeast later. Low tide 0425 and high tide around 1015. Local barometer 1015hpa, 96% humidity, 7 degrees C. Have a good one.
The way it was In Byron Bay May 11th 2009
Posted on May 12th, 2009 in Byron, Just for fun, Local Colour, Surf Reports, weird surf.Well it’s still logger heaven In Byron Bay Today. There’s plenty of swell further south but it’s not hit here yet. The waves were worth for lugging out a log. But if you’re not into logging there are some really good solid peaks starting to appear just a little out of town if you want to get your shortie out. But you’ll have to get out and look for them, which is usually the case at this time of year. However we stayed into town, to shoot the old crew as we had a visit from the ol, master shaper himself Bob Brown so we hung around town with Brownie and shot what was on offer. Speaking of Brownie, we’ll be giving away another custome made hand shaped Bob Brown board later in the year to one of our subscribers. He makes a seriously some nice shortboard too so get in get subscribed In Byron Bay Today.
BTW guys, we’ve run into a few Real Surfers up here now, and naturally we’ve shot them, with a camera of course
. Point being, if you’re coming into Byron for a trip, keep an eye out for us on the beach or hit our contact page and flick me an email to lets us know to look out for you. We’re gonna try and shoot as many RealSurfers as possible In Byron Bay Today
