Looks like there might be a little one
Posted on May 29th, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
A chilly start to the day with a fair amount of cloud about. Wind is starting to make its presence felt and, according to the Bureau, it’ll be up into the 20-30 range from the S-SW by late morning. Swell is back to south now.
The average period has faded to about 7 seconds, so even though the average size is around two metres, wave faces on the bomb sets are struggling to get into the shoulder high range at well exposed places such as Dee Why.
Tide will be high at about 1230, so the trend will be toward increasing fatness. In fact, since the next low tide this evening is not that low, we can expect it to have a fattish tinge pretty much all day.
BTW, did you see Rob’s waterspout pics in yesterday’s reports? Just use the yesterday link in the daily pic gallery to check ‘em out.
Have yourself a top old day!

Byron Bay May 28th 2009
Posted on May 29th, 2009 in Byron, Cool Picks, Just for fun, Local Colour, Surf Reports. It shines when it shines, and shine it did In Byron Bay Today. Just a stunner if you like sweet little logger waves and a nice sunny day. If you’re keen to pull out anything shorter though you’d need to head south right now. But if loggings your bag you then you would have been stoked to be in Byron bay today. There was relaxed crew in the water. Until a couple of people arived who wanted to turn it into a hassle, but they were swiftly dealt with. Said hasslers were asked to pull their heads in or be on their way. Sounds harsh, but hey why should a peaceful crew of both locals and visitors alike have to endure such a joyous day being spoilt by a few greedy souls that want to compete. So marching orders were issued with a gentle reminder that it’s not a competition here. And so the rest of the folks went on to enjoy a very enjoyable day. There were slides, nasal rides and plenty of big smiles from most that came to play In Byron Bay Today.
