Wave Pools: Good or Bad for the Sport of Surfing?
Posted on June 3rd, 2009 in Contests, News Stories, Surf history, Surf News, Surf politics, Top stories.A very interesting article from 5ones.com. In a recent ESPN article, Kelly Slater listed somethings he would like to see changed as to the way the ASP runs and operates, including the introduction of wave pools. The author of this article agrees. Interesting to hear RealSurfers’ thought on the matter.

BALI ULUWATU REPORT
Posted on June 3rd, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.2-3 feet with the occasional 4 footer but it’s dropping with the low tide. Yesterday was 4 feet and better. It’s warm, offshore and about 50 crew in attendance with some crazy and very annoying drop kneeing/ drop in-ing going on but better than back home by the looks of things. New swell due tomorrow just in time for my departure. Enjoy.

Posted on June 3rd, 2009 in Mona Vale.Hey, sorry it’s been a while since last report, i was in Indo and forgot to get someone else to do the report for me.
The surf is alright this morning, a lot of beaches would probably have some good waves, Mona on the other hand, has no banks and is a crappy closeout.
If you wanna get some waves today, check elsewhere!

Grey? Rainy? You’re kidding, right?
Posted on June 3rd, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends
Yet another gloomy kick off to a new day’s proceedings in Sydney. Swell has faded since yesterday at this time, but as my picture of Dee Why shows, it’s not flat. Yeah, the quality in absolute terms isn’t amazing or anything, but there are some waist high sets. I reckon a mal or a fish would deliver the highest return on your time investment.
Swell is currently out of the east at about 1.5 metres. Huey’s put the power setting on 8 seconds. We’re due to have NE winds around the 10-15 kt range. Breeze should be light this morning and the Bureau says the rain episodes should ease up during the day in Sydney.
Outlook is for the swell to bumble along at the current power settings through to around midday on Friday. Then, from the look of the models, we’re set for a weekend of minimal surf opportunities. Oh well.
Just picked this up from @Stevieenglish on Twitter: “surf done and dusted, not much doing today. a bit full, got in 40 mins in Bronte with 2 other guys thats always nice”
Have a great day one and all

Byron Bay Today, May 2nd 2009.
Posted on June 3rd, 2009 in Byron, Just for fun, Local Colour, Surf Reports.Apart from a few short showers, it was just a classic North Coast winters day In Byron Bay Today. Sunshine, light winds and lovely little waves, we had it all in the bay today. There’s something very special about early winter in Byron. Those that live here know it, and those who stumble upon it by chance soon find out. The swell bumped up a little today, but in the process, maxed out the banks on the other side. So it was logs only in the bay. Gotta admit the log lines are fun. But even an old log dog like myself, is starting to hanker for something a little juicier so I can pull the little one out to play. But this is what Byron usually does in winter. The Bay turns into nose ride heaven and the back beaches get joyous banks. BUT, If the wind isn’t right or the swell gets a little size everything around the back gets maxed out. Then it’s logs only in the bay. Bring on those nor westers Huey, there’s a few banks we’ve been itching to hit, In Byron Bay Today.
