Longy & Collaroy-Narra

Posted on June 7th, 2009 in Long Reef, North Narrabeen.

Hello Friends,

Just thought I toss a couple more pics up.

Very, very small still. Had a look at the Collaroy-Narra stretch, and the only people I could see in the water were up at the Northy end. Didn’t look too fabulous either.

Here’s da shot

Late morning, North Narra

Late morning, North Narra

Later, I needed to run an errand, so I looped down to Longy for a squiz. Again, minimal energy getting in. I waited quite awhile to get the following rather ordinary shot of a wave actually being, well, sort of ridden.

On a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Like our work? Why not shout the crew a coffee? :-)

A little something for the RealSurf project from you!

15 in the water at Dee Why — mostly mals — waiting for 10 minutes or so between rideable waves, but every now and then a bomb set like this one comes raging through…

Dee Why Superbank supermega bomb set

One of these about every 15 minutes...

Hello Friends,

It’s a pleasant enough early winter’s day in Sydney, but the surf situation is pretty ordinary. About the best you can say is that at least it’s not dead south, so something does trickle in every now and again. Swell at sea is around a metre from the SSE at about 8 seconds apart. As my picture shows, this can translate into the occasional waist high bomb set. With luck, as the tide drops (it’s low at around 1330), a few more little peaks will come into play. However, there is the issue of the wind.

The Bureau says the W-NW breeze of this morning is going to be pushing along at a pretty intense 20-30 kts by dark – and then it looks set to stay that way for most of the coming work week.

According to the models, we can pretty much write off wave hopes until late Wednesday. Thursday remains hopeful for Sydney surfers, so if you can, block out a little space in the calendar just in case. Ya never know…

Posted on June 7th, 2009 in Surf Reports.

on saturday at 11 am: looks like 2 – 4 footers at cox bay, south of tofino: long, clean, circular lines sweeping in, and very well-attended – ucluelet, 40 km south-west, looking more ragged – estevan point, some 60 km further than tofino, looking active under low tide – at our corner of the straits, recent winds and white caps presage some surfable conditions at our rivermouth point, and more likely further up – marine winds maxing at 20 knots westerly, at our straits mouth – please stay tuned ……

Well it’s time for the In Byron Bay Today Weekend Windup again.  It’s been an ok kind of week this week in the bay. From a surfers perspective it’s actually been considerably better than it looked. There has been plenty of choice and that’s a joyous thing. We had medium sized peaks to thick hollow beachies for the little whiteboards. Plus long clean lines sweeping into the bay, just begging for a slide on a log. It wasn’t perfect but it was uncrowded and very surfable. It’s simply been a matter of choosing what you’d like to ride and heading to the most appropriate spot to ride it. If you didn’t score a few this week in the bay then you didn’t look hard enough or you’re too fussy, because we got heaps, In Byron Bay this week.
