TG’s Forecast
Posted on June 11th, 2009 in Surf Reports.Surf forecast issued Thursday 11 June 2009: Seven day outlook for Sydney:
Surf’s up for the young and fit – those who can handle the cold – which apparently includes Don but excludes me – I’m painting anyway, and I don’t mean Picasso painting. I think the snowchilled wind went through to my bones up high on the south shady side of the house..no way did I want to get wet after that, even though the water temp is very pleasant. Anyhoo…
Friday: easing back form today but still around2 metres at places that like dead South swell.
Saturday: in the 1-2 metre range
Sunday: about 1 metre or so
Monday: about the same.
Tuesday: coming up form the South again, about2-3 metres.
Wednesday: about 2 metres South.
Thursday: in the 1-2 metre range South.

Posted on June 11th, 2009 in Curl Curl.Hi all,
Wandered all over the landscape in search of a good but uncrowded wave. I failed. Shoulda just picked my crowd and got on with it. Instead, went for a very bizarre paddleout at south Curly because there were only half a dozen out wrangling the weirdness. Huge bounce running off the rocks at the headland and coming at right angles to the approaching swell. Some mutant looking things out there. But hard to convey with a picture. I’ve got the new Panasonic Lumix FT-1 waterproof unit for testing, so I used it to grab the following snap.
A few piccies from this morning
Posted on June 11th, 2009 in At large, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Fairy Bower, Freshwater, Gardens, Long Reef, Manly.Hello Friends,
Here are a few snaps from my run-around this morning:
Yeah, it’s BIG
Posted on June 11th, 2009 in Surf Reports.I didn’t stick around long enough to get any shots of the really big sets as it was bloody cold but there are some biggies out there this morning. Watch a guy get something in the vicinity of 4X overhead from near First Rock and road it nearly up to Poles. It’s breaking WAY out the back and some of them are even closing out the whole beach now and again. Don’t be fooled by the lulls between sets–there’s some serious stuff out there. Most people are looking seriously under-gunned trying to scratch into the big ones. Great conditions if you are up for dealing with the big stuff. Water temperature is still around 20C but the air is sub 10…
Cheers,
Rob

Posted on June 11th, 2009 in Surf Reports.Meaty, beaty, big & bouncy! Plenty of powerful headhigh swell rolling outta the south & being kindly tended to by offshore winds. Cold, but…

C C Rising Swells
Posted on June 11th, 2009 in Central Coast, Surf Reports.
Fine, dry and cold on the Central Coast this Thursday morning. The swell is smooth and rising at 2 – 4 feet from the southeast. There is light west southwest breeze forecast to strengthen later. Low tide 0440 and high tide around 1035. Local barometer 1013 hpa, 5 degrees C. 73% humidity. Have a good one.
Yep, it’s big
Posted on June 11th, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Update: got just enough light for a couple snaps and I can tell you it’s damn cold standing there in the wind and 8 degree temps waiting to hit the shutter button. I’ll bet suiting up in the carpark was pretty cozy for all those chaps and chapettes who did the dawn patrol. Okay, I’m off on a bit of a run around to see what else is showing a wave. PB has headed north on the same mission, so we should have a few piccies up for you later.
Waiting for enough light to take a picture, but can tell you that it looks to be in the double overhead range. Swell is out of the south as expected. It’s averaging 4 metres at sea and the power setting is on a juicy 11 seconds (with peaks into the 13 sec range).
Wind is west at around 15 kts. Next tide is a high at 1034.
Pic up soon, and then I’m off for a look around to report on the other options….

Byron Bay Today June 10th 2009
Posted on June 11th, 2009 in Byron, Just for fun, Local Colour, Surf Reports. It was bloody chilly this morning, In Byron Bay Today. But compared to what guys down south are going through, can’t complain. I mean we’ve still got people surfing in boardies up here. Personally I’m into a bit of rubber wear for the winter months. But the people going without reckon the water is still warm enough for boardshorts. The water is still warm, but I’m no spring chicken and the winter wind rattles my crusty old bones. BTW, if you checked the surf report up here today, you’d be lead to believe, there was no rideable surf in the bay. Well that might be what they reported, but hey, we got waves and so did plenty of other folks. In fact here were even a few moments when it looked like we may actually be seeing the first early pulses of a new south swell. Or I could just be totally mad, only time will tell. Either way it was a stunning day, In Byron Bay Today.
