A few snaps from this morning

Posted on June 12th, 2009 in At large, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Gardens, Manly.

Hello Friends,

Out and about this morning on your behalf and got a few snaps. If you’re toying with the idea of the super peak at Dee Why, be prepared for intensely crowded conditions. A few folks I talked to had only managed to get one or two waves in the course of an hour or more in the water…

Will look for more pictures to post this evening if I can…

Nice conditions, but a bit softer than elsewhere along the n. beaches.

Not nearly as consistent but I don't hear any complaints from here.

You want super peak waves? Prepare to share! This is how it looked about 5 minutes after the sun cleared the horizon.

The super peak is super crowded for very obvious reasons.

Hello Friends,

Good news, the swell is hanging in there at about the same intensity as late yesterday – which was pretty intense! For the record, the numbers are looking like this as we head into Friday: swell is south at 3 metres with a juicy power setting of 10 seconds, wind is westerly at 10-15 kts from the west, but is set to ease (as is the swell). Next tide is a high at 1115.

Your humble servant is now about to head out in search of a few more pictures to share from what looks to be another amazing day. I could sure use a cup of coffee… better earn it first before putting the tipjar out…

Waves, yes there's swell In Byron Bay Today
Waves, yes there’s swell In Byron Bay Today

Congratulations, it’s bouncing baby south swell, yes folks the new swell arrived without any complications In Byron Bay Today.  Well actually it started to arrive yesterday, which just proves I wasn’t mad, well at least I wasn’t mad yesterday. But who knows what the future holds. The new swell arrived and the town is all abuzz again. Now some describe Byron as a new age hippy retreat. Others think of it as a party town. Then there’s the rich and shameless who think of Byron as the new must go hep scene. Call it what you like, but those who have been here long enough will tell you. Byron is a surfing town, when the swells dead so is the town. When the sea comes to life, the bay begins to pulse to the rhythm of the ocean. You can feel it as you drive through town. The energy is almost palpable when there are waves. Traffic increases, people get speedy and all the crew are talking in hushed tones about where it may be working today. So here we are, it’s freezing, the sun is out and there’s new southerly swell lines sweeping past the cape. It brings energy, change and a hint of promise to all, In Byron Bay Today.
