Bower sesh
Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Fairy Bower.Hi evening folk,
Hope you got a wave or two today. I had one of those will-I-won’t-I days. Finally gave into that familiar itch. You know the deal, I’m sure. You know there are waves and you could go… but for whatever reason you put it off. But the antsy feeling finally wins out and you toss the board into the car…
I got there about half an hour before the northerly breeze turned into wind and the little chop turned into big chop. Still, I got wet and I got a few snaps. Very friendly crew out there too. A number of people said “hi”, a couple had a yarn (I always like a yarn!) about this and that. Saw a pod of porpoises too, and a little penguin and a gannet. I’m one of those folks who just digs seeing the creatures who live out their entire lives in and around the sea.
Not great conditions for picture taking, but I have the test sample Panasonic FT-1 waterproof camera to play with for a bit longer, so I figured I might as well grab a few snaps. I still haven’t figured out how to get clean shots every time with this camera. When it’s good, it’s very good, so I’m persisting.
BTW, a few of the folk in the water asked if there would be pics available on the site. The answer is yes, but I have to nut out an easy way to do it first…
Here are a few snaps for you. Have a top old evening!
Dropping tide
Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Gardens, South Narrabeen. It got overcast and cold, but for the hardy few who were willing to snap a board if they got in the wrong spot, there were waves to be had on the dropping tide. Ah, winter time.

Head high plus a bit on the sets. No wind. Good A frame peaks dying quickly because of high tide. Vicious south to north sweep (chap started paddle out 200 m to sth of me now half way out and 100 m to N.) Water quality awful. Plastic bits washed up everywhere.
Some sweet waves still around

You gotta love it when you paddle out to this

Better view from up here...

Niiiiice...
Great waves yesterday and today aint too bad either! Check out these Oceaneye shots from yesterday and this morning. Can’t tell you where they are though. You’ll have to work it out! Lots more photos can found in our Surf Sessions Gallery. Enjoy!
Plenty of nice waves with offshore winds
Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.3 feet of east NE swell at around 9-10 secs with offshores creating perfect conditions. Tide is high but dropping so it should be firing by lunch time at Curly. Manly was OK this morning but full in parts and sucky in others- swell was consistent but tide was all over it. Swell should stick around till tomorrow then nick off. Enjoy.
Not gone, but going?
Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Manly.Manly still has a few decent sized sets coming in although the consistency and quality is notably less than yesterday. Decent crowd on it early with the occasional 4 foot sets hitting the beach. Sadly the banks are still in a terrible state which seems such a pity with
such perfect conditions. Well worth a paddle though.
Beautiful morning

Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Central Coast, Surf Reports.Fine, dry and cool on the Central Coast this Wednesday morning. The swell is smooth and inconsistent 2 – 3 feet + from the east northeast. There is light west northwest breeze. High tide 0925 and low tide around 1455. Local barometer 1012 hpa, 6 degrees C. 98% humidity. Have a good one.
Byron Bay Today June 23rd 2009
Posted on June 24th, 2009 in Byron, Cool Picks, Just for fun, Local Colour, Surf Reports. It started of pissing down rain & lumpy In Byron Bay Today. But the change caught up with us mid morning. The sun came out to play and the wind turned offshore, the waves were hollow and plentiful and whales frolicked off the cape. So couldn’t really ask for more? Wherever we went the topic of conversation was the same. ‘Isn’t it great to see the sun and just how good are these waves?’ Now the points weren’t liking the east swell so much in fact they were crap, but the beachies another story to tell. Those in the know scored as there were barrels a plenty to be had, yet it wasn’t for the faint hearted. That east swell’s got punch in it and the sweep’s like a river in flood. It’s not for the inexperienced or backpacker crew, they’d be would wise to sit and watch. Maybe take time off and watch others take the drops. But for those with the experience and fitness levels Byron’s beachies were on fire. We headed out and shot several different spots, we got so many beautiful shots it was bloody hard to edit it down to twenty. As usual we won’t be saying where we shot or where we surfed. But we will tell you this much, you really want to get out and look a little more closely, In Byron Bay Today.
