Dee Why Drop-Ins–Sunday photo review
Posted on July 5th, 2009 in Surf Reports.Ahhhh, another day of swell along the Northern Beaches. Some pretty big stuff most of the day in Dee Why today–not the best quality but not bad for a weekend…
The Dee Why “Superbank” not so super as last week but still not too bad. The big ones breaking WAY out the back seemed like the best ones today and still saw few Surfclub to Poles rides.
And the drop-ins… Surprised there wasn’t a fight or two…
Here’s a selection from about 1:30 this afternoon.
Plenty of evidence for some serious public shaming…

Photo crazy
Posted on July 5th, 2009 in At large, Dee Why, Gardens.Your webmaster has flipped. He’s goin’ nuts with the camera. I’ve already shot sth Narrabeen, Dee Why beach and Dee Why point. Plus I looked at but rejected as not worth the effort Mona Vale, Warriewood, Little Narrabeen and Northy. Late this afternoon I grabbed another couple hundred of the folks messing with the junky conditions at Dee Why beach. Funny how even in those ordinary circumstances there were a few okay ones. The way I figure it, even if a shot of you looks only half decent, it’s still better than no shot at all!
I plan to post the pics to my site tomorrow. Though that sorta depends if I go out shooting again or not…
A great day for a surf
Posted on July 5th, 2009 in Manly.Well its a great day to be out amongst it on the wave front this morning. Conditions are perfect with nothing good on TV to quote our funny friends from Flights of the Concords…….its a good shoulder high with a few boom sets which are few and far between. The wind is a stiff offshore and its a shame the banks are not doing it quiet as well as you would like. This has not stopped the crowd factor though which is nothing short of massive. A shame. Don’t ya just remember when winter days encouraged the punters to stay at home and have a hot chocolate over a big breakie with their partners? How things have changed. Anyway there are loads of great waves across the peninsiular today and you should not have trouble finding youself some good ones. I know where I will be heading for my next surf……..
Still Flat and Windy Sunday
Posted on July 5th, 2009 in South Carolina.Sunday and Monday will both be a windy day with rain moving in Sunday evening. Expect South winds 15-20 mph changing to west winds by Monday. While I offer no hope for Sunday, Monday does have early morning potential despite the rain, as buoy data is showing 4+feet from the South so any Westerly off shore winds could give us an opportunity.
Avalon to Narrabeen Rpt
Posted on July 5th, 2009 in Surf Reports.Still plenty of yesterday’s swell around. Bit smaller, maybe, but cleaner. Around shoulder-high & glassy

Firing, go now!
Posted on July 5th, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Just go now if you possibly can. Offshore, shoulder to head high plus at south spots. Easing offshore winds, sunny skies, low tide at midday…. whadya want? Oh, no crowds? Um, sorry, they were already there at first light. Everywhere will be jammed, but the swell seems to be pretty consistent so just be patient and you’ll definitely score.
This is going to be a big shooting day for yours truly, so expect a heap of pics later.
In the meantime, I’ve posted another batch of 350 (seriously!) I shot in just 45 minutes at a very, very good high tide Dee Why beach just on dusk last night. If you were out there you might wanna have a look through and see if I caught your inimitable stylings. I shoot anything that moves, but try to pick the peak moments when you are least gooselike!
Have yourself a top old day.
