It will have to be in the morning…
Posted on July 21st, 2009 in South Carolina. Many of you probably missed the Monday afternoon session of glass with 9 sec swell in the 3-4 foot range. Something almost unheard of on the Atlantic seaboard. But Tuesday morning looks to be at 10 sec with 3 feet and calm winds before they kick around from the south possibly over 15 mph. I suggest you get your butt out of bed and take advantage of this opportunity with low tide at 7:11.

Great day to be outside
Posted on July 21st, 2009 in Big Picture.Hello Friends,
What a stunner of a morning; unusually warm, light NW winds and clear blue skies. All the pieces are in place but for one. Yep, you guessed it. The big guy has lost interest in the east coast of Australia. I think he might be kicking back with a cervesa under a palm frond beach umbrella somewhere in Costa Rica.
Meanwhile in Sydney his disregard for the Tasman is playing out as a 0.5 metre SSE swell. It has a reasonable power setting (10-12s) but it’s just too small to deliver much more than the occasional weak little line. Another good day to mess around with the mal or the SUP if you’re desperate.
The forecast models are still looking ordinary. From the shape of things it would seem that we’re most likely to get in the water on Fri-Sat when there is the prospect of a small south pulse. Between now and then… um, yeah…
Have yourself a top old day!

Posted on July 21st, 2009 in Surf Reports.Well its almost as flat as a pancake this morning and looks like it might stay that way for a few more days yet. A shame given the lovely spring like weather we have been getting. Fingers crossed Huey throws us a bone sometime soon. Maybe late Thursday we may start to get a little push from the south which as we know is not ideal for Manly but fortunately we do have a few south facing options nearby! Had a nice long w/e up the coast and surprisingly we got pretty good waves everyday. Not big but clean with great shape. Nice to see the good old AB’s crossing the line in front after a woeful start. Bit like the Aussies bowlers on day 1 of the second test.
Nada.
Posted on July 21st, 2009 in Surf Reports. Some tiny one-foot short-interval closey-outy things arriving at Dee Why this morning but not much else. Great conditions for whale-watching but haven’t seem them yet today. They were back again yesterday though,

Byron Bay Today July 2009
Posted on July 21st, 2009 in Byron, Just for fun, Local Colour, Surf Reports, Weather. It was a quiet day for a holiday, In Byron Bay Today. Could it be Mondayitis? Mondays tend to have a bit of a slowdown effect in Byron. Or could it simply be there’s very little swell to speak of ? The weather’s warm and clear, but the wind is increasing from the north, and showing no signs of backing off over the next few days. Hmm hope I’m wrong on that call, but I digress. The rhythm of the bay is very much linked to the quality of the waves and the weather. It’s not looking overly promising for waves in the actual bay over the next couple of days. But fear not little blokes & blokettes, right now is the time to be out and about checking the beach breaks on the open side. I won’t say where as that’s not fair, but I will say this, get your board under your arm and go for walk. We’re looking at a few days of nice conditions for some uncrowded little beachies coming up. Especially if you make the effort to walk past the better know spots, you’ll get waves to yourself. There’s no better story to take back to home than the one about the peak you and your buddies found empty, In Byron Bay Today.
