June 15th, 2009:
After a few days of small waves around the North Male Atolls, the waves finally picked up today and did not dissapoint the holiday maker!
4 – 5 ft clean right handers at Jailbreaks and Sultans seemed the most popular spots on the day. With only a handful of blokes out, everyone was gettings waves and plenty of photos to show
the missus when they get home!
Expecting much the same the next 2 or 3 days with the chance of a swell increase to around 8ft on Wednesday…ive got the GUN ready!
Check out tomorrows report, which will include photos from 15/6/09 & 16/6/09.
For information on how to get here with me and surf these heavenly waves check out www.lineup.com.au

Huey is trying — but not quite succeeding…
Posted on July 29th, 2009 in Dee Why.Charts showing a meter and a bit of SSE swell at 8-10 seconds but not really apparent on the beaches. Tiny wave on the Point and the rare waist to chest high close-out up the beach at Dee Why.
Tomorrow should be better with the arrival of a (forecast) 18-second 1.5m swell.
Fingers crossed.
Cheers,
Rob

Fine, dry and cool on the Central Coast this Wednesday morning. The swell is smooth and very small at 1 – 1.5 feet from the southeast. There is light southwest breeze forecast to freshen and go northeast later. Low tide 0735 and high tide around 1415. Local barometer 1014 hpa, 4 degrees C. 95% humidity. Have a good one.

Because Yoko and I are taking the first four days off thet we’ve had in eight months. Time for me to run off and chuck a mid life crisis for a few days. We’ll be back with our updates next week. If you’re missing your dose, go browse our archives it’s all their. The summer stuff is particular enjoyable on a cold winters day.
It’s close to flat, but…
Posted on July 28th, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Last night when I checked the MHL data for Sydney I was stoked to see that some 12 second component in the mix. Might there be something in the surfable range this morning? Well, Huey likes his little jokes and this morning finds the latest run of data showing us back into the 7-8 sec range. The windswell’s still out of the south at a metre.
There were a few bods up the beach from the DY SLSC waiting patiently for something to come in. Sets were not frequent and when they arrived the rides appeared to be very brief (maybe 2-4 sec). Size was around the waist high mark.
Outlook is for conditions to stay like this through the day but overnight the models are showing the period increasing dramatically (to around 15 sec), so with luck, tomorrow will actually see something in the surfable range. My hope is for sets into the chest high plus range.
If the forecast plays out, Friday should be smaller than Thursday but Saturday should be back up a bit.
Have yourself a top old day!
Low tide was at 0735 and high’s at 1416.

I’m now in Toronto which of course is not known at all for being a surfing mecca! LOL! I’m just glad though that there was so snap-worthy moments during my few days in CA.
Bye for now and go well.

Posted on July 28th, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Still going sideways where the lack of surf’s concerned. Another beautiful morning with clear skies and a faint offshore breeze. But there’s not much more than a metre of 6s period windswell out at sea, so absolutely nothing is getting into Dee Why. There is no real prospect of improvement for today that I can see (please feel free to prove me wrong Huey!) and from the MHL buoy data, it looks as though these dire conditions prevail up and down the east coast.
The WAMs are currently showing a relatively large area of fetch developing south of Tassie in the next day or so. On current reckoning it looks as though the brunt of the energy is going to push up along the west coast of NZ. However, they also seem to be indicating that we could benefit to a modest extent thanks to some very long period component that’s expected to arise. It’ll mostly be offshore from the look of things, and it’ll probably hit harder north of Sydney, but I’m hoping for some juicy chest high plus south swell from around Thursday and lasting into the early part of the weekend.
The models are really jumping around day to day, so my confidence level is moderate rather than high at this stage.
Have yourself a brilliant Tuesday!
