Posted on August 6th, 2009 in Surf Reports.

Surf Forecast issued Thursday 6 August 2009:  Seven day outlook for Sydney:

Hmmm…. we have a Gale warning… late Friday arvo sea will start rising from the South…

So Pat, for the Weekend Leave Pass considerations…that will bring up the swell for Saturday morning, but it’ll be very windy and choppy, and will feel cold.  Sunday will be smaller, but conditions look like being better.   Choices, choices… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ but no guarantees J

Friday: around a metre or so in the morning from the East North East, then maybe 2-3 metres with a Gale.

Saturday: 2-3 metres at places that like dead South swell… easing back, as the strong S/SW wind does.

Monday: some large East swell… 1- 2 metres rising to 2-3 metres.

Still on hold

Hello Friends,

Quiet out there, too quiet...

Quiet out there, too quiet...

A tiny line is appearing along Dee Why beach every now and then this morning. It is very small and for the most part unsurfable, but the bigger ones are just nudging into the catchable range for the properly equipped surfing person. And it is a corker of a morning too.

The MHL buoys for NSW are telling pretty much the same story up and down our coast, namely that nowhere are average swell heights above a metre. That being the case, I wouldn’t expect any immediate change to our circumstances in Sydney.

However…

The models have been swinging about late winter style but over the last few days they’ve become consistently optimistic about the start of next week. The current reading is pointing toward a run of solid east swell beginning around Monday morning. Not the perfect swell direction for our little stretch of coastline, but if the calls for 2-3 metres at 10-12sec come to pass, I’m sure we’ll figure out ways to make do. :-)

Go well with your day!

Still small and clean

Posted on August 6th, 2009 in Manly.

Sadly there is still nothing else to report.  Saturday still looks like the day that we will next get some pulse although it will not be the greatest of swells but it should be rideable and after the last few days we can not complain. Despite this dour predictament we are in its still great weather so get out there and enjoy it. Just don’t expect to be surfing anything of note.

C C Small

Fine, dry and cool on the Central Coast this Thursday morning.  The swell is smooth and very small at 1 – 1.5 feet max. from the east southeast.  There is light west northwest breeze forecast to freshen and go northeast later.  High tide 0825 and low tide around 1400.  Local barometer 1015 hpa, 4 degrees C. 95% humidity.   Have a good one.

FlatThursday

Posted on August 6th, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.

Completely flat this morning with little to no chance of a ridable.  BIGGER swell due in on Saturday with a substantial southerly change and then it’s game on again for the next week or so. Enjoy.

It was just that kind of day, In Byron Bay Today
It was just that kind of day, In Byron Bay Today

Ah yes August it’s such a beautiful time to be, In Byron Bay Today. Once again an almost summer like day was on offer for the Byronians. I mean ok, let’s get real here; obviously it’s not really like summer up here, because there’s no humidity. But it was indeed very warm, sunny and just downright pretty all day long. Now the waves were kind of nice, but there’s not much to go around. The banks aren’t really lining up and it’s got the crowd concentrated all in one spot. This puts a lot of pressure on everyone, both locals and visitors alike. Or to put it simply I witnessed a lot of behaviour today from people who’d do well to click on our Byron Surf Lore link and have a really good read. Be that as it may, there was still plenty of fun to be had by most. But remember folks when you’re learning something new, practice away from the crew.  In Byron Bay Today.
