Late arvo wrap with pics

Hello Friends,

Hope you got a wave today!

My venue of choice was the point at Dee Why this morning, but there were a fair few other options on offer. Swell seemed to be holding through the morning and was still rolling along this afternoon.

I came back with a few watershots from the point (gallery to come soon) and then this afternoon, I swooped down to south Narrabeen to see how it was looking there. Mostly shutting down it has to be said, but there were a few folks out giving it a go anyway.

Catchya again tomorrow!

Well that did not work after all…

Windy this AM so it messed with what little wave we had. Likewise the next few days call for light winds but potentially heavy rain at times. It just one of those days that if its not raining, maybe you need to check and see if any thing is going on that would be ridable.

Gotta love this winter

Posted on August 13th, 2009 in Manly.

Well its still cranking today. Absolutely. Its a touch smaller than yesterday but still some lovely waves coming through. A  big crowd has been on it since first light. Winds have stayed from the westely quarter all night and as a result its super clean and firing up and down the beach. I would think  that the best conditions will be later in the morning as that tide comes in. The banks were firing on the high tide yesterday and I can see no reason that this will not be the case today. Light winds from the west forecast for the rest of the day so get yourself out there and enjoy it.

Cranking!!!

Posted on August 13th, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.

Still cranking but Curly was no good with the east swell this morning compared to Manly but it was no secret.  Crowds were heavy from 6.30am but well worth it with some classy 4 foot sets that rocked through.  Offshore winds, swell all week- get into it- enjoy.

Yup, still kicking along folks

Hello Friends,

Happy to report that we’ve still got plenty of swell to play with in Sydney this morning. It’s definitely dropped since yesterday but there are still head high plus sets turning up. Looks like the cleanest conditions will be happening this morning. We’re set to have light WSW winds until the afternoon when the forecast calls for weak onshores to develop.

We should have another 24 hours left in this pulse and then we’re set for a period of smaller, but not flat conditions across the weekend.

Have yourself a top old day!

Byron Bay Today Aug 12 / 09

Grommets day In ByronBay Today
Grommets day In ByronBay Today

Huey left the replay button on, In Byron Bay Today. It’s just been getting windier here by the minute. The bay is completely blown out, there’s salt spray over everything and small children intermittently sailing past on the prevailing northerly gale. Many years ago we used to call these ‘Black Northerlies’. I never quite figured out whether it was because of the steady cloud build up. The colour the water goes in the bay, from a mixture of nutrient rich upwellings and the reflection of the grey sky. Or if it was just that some folks seem to get in a bit of a dark mood after several days of being blasted by the wind. Whatever it is the Black Northerly is no stranger to Byron bay, but like all weather patterns they come and go. As far as the maps are looking, we should see an end come to this one in the next twenty four to forty eight hours. As far as the surf is concerned it’s reasonably big, lumpy twisty and not real good for anything other than bodyboards and the little whiteboard set. The little blokes were making a good go of it in Byron today, so this update is dedicated to them. They’re so surf stoked they’ll have a dig at anything and still enjoy it. So here’s to the positive energy of the grommets. Because they still got amongst it and made it look fun, In Byron Bay Today.
