Not quite flat
Posted on August 23rd, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Looks like there are some little mal-able waves at spots exposed to the generally easterly windswell. But don’t expect much above the knee high mark because it’s averaging less than a metre at sea and the period is a gutless 7 seconds. However, there is the odd 9 sec set in the mix, so methinks that those are the ones that’ll be getting caught today.
Our week-ahead outlook remains pretty dire for Sydney. However one of the models is showing a prospect for a tiny improvement tomorrow. The wind looks as though it could be an issue though – should be coming from the right direction, but it could be on the strong side. Winter seems to be going out with a whimper.
If you want some real juice, you should hop a plane for… New York! Water temp is 22, air is 25 and Rockaway beach should be pumping with no wind tomorrow. In fact, the whole eastern seaboard of North America should be going off thanks to Hurricane Bill. It’ll be light there from around 9pm Sydney time and you should be able to see something on these cams…
Have a good one, wherever you find yourself in the world.

Small and weak on the high tide- outlook poor
Posted on August 23rd, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports. There might be a little something on the low tide later today but its unridable now and the outlook is dismal. Huey is unloading on our Mexican cousins in Vicco at the moment so jump on a plane and get some epic kegs- the outlook is sensational and getting better if you can handle surfing in the cold. Just grab a 4/3, some booties, gloves and a hoodie, and you’ll be fine. Enjoy.
