A2B4C around Australia ultra marathon charity fundraiser nearly finished

Over the $400,000 mark… lets keep it going!
Craig’s blog 24 August 2009: Up at 3am to start the trek overland to the ACT. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I started this morning and saw that once again the wind had changed and was now blowing from the north west and directly into my face. The weather gods are now starting to play mind games with my head. I must admit that after cycling for an hour into the breeze I was really starting to get frustrated. I only had a small distance of 85km’s this morning as we have a number of functions in and around the ACT.
My body is definitely ready to finish this week as my legs are still heavy and I still have a cold and irritable throat. The bottom line is though that I have to still belt out the kilometres as we have engagements to make each day all the way back to Sydney. I probably only averaged about 25km’s an hour today and the short distance seemed to drag on for hours.
I made the ACT at 11am after some small breaks and then was escorted to Parliament House by the local fire fighters. We had a number of press turn up at Parliament House where I was met by the Hon Dr Michael Kelly, representing Mr Rudd.
We then left the ACT and pushed on to the Eagle Hawk Tavern where we were met by the publican, Mark Everson, media, and local residents. To our delight we received two cheques from the hotel, totalling one thousand dollars. To add to this, Mark was the kind host to a superb lunch at the tavern. After leaving the tavern, we were then escorted into Queanbeyan by the local fire brigade who are now hosting a BBQ and conducting a fundraiser in our honour.
I am now glad to say that we are over the $400,000 mark and I have only three big sleeps to go!!!!!!!!

I think we can manage to fill in a form and click the “Submit” button to help push it over the $500,000 mark… J

Hurricane Bill leftovers
Posted on August 25th, 2009 in South Carolina.Thats right, Monday night still has some waist high sets coming in that the buoy confirms 4 feet @ 15 sec period will be around Tuesday morning, with light winds. I can almost guarantee you will ride with that incoming tide and no wind in the morning.

Posted on August 25th, 2009 in Big Picture, Dee Why.Hello Friends,
How’s that wind? I imagine lots of folks were roused in the middle of the night as I was to secure various flapping doors and the like. It’s still going along at 20-30kts from the west as I tap out these words. The ocean of course has been hammered to complete flatness. What swell there is, is heading off to NZ. Surfing in any form is out of the question for Sydneysiders. And, from the current shape of the models, I’d say we’re looking at nothing much between us and late in the weekend. From this vantage point, it looks like we might possibly get a little barely surfable bump on Sunday… maybe…

Byron Bay Today Aug 24th 09
Posted on August 25th, 2009 in Byron, Local Colour.
It was a scorcher , In Byron Bay Today. Ok Maybe not quite a scorcher, but it was pretty warm for winter. We always seem to get a little early burst of summer in August but it rarely lasts for long, I reckon it’ll cool down yet again before we settle into that familiar north coast summer pattern. Once again the northerly was the most dominant weather feature in Byron Bay, which is very typical for spring and let’s face it, spring is almost here. The swell was a small north to north east wind swell and there really weren’t any waves of consequence around. However there were a few little peaks to be had for a bit of a slide, and hey I’m not shy to get out there and have a play. After all, we either surf what we got with gratitude, or stay dry suffer and complain, which is not the way I prefer to spend the day, In Byron Bay Today.

Posted on August 24th, 2009 in Surf Reports.on sunday at 2 pm: 1 – 3 foot waves at the lost village beach, sweeping gracefully around the three emerged boulders at the area known as Firsts – i caught five easy but rather ragged waves, in slow-moving, glassy and pleasant conditions – light attendance, with many other brethren poised onshore, for an imminent larger swell – a camped-out bro told me that saturday morning was considerably better – weather has turned back to clear and hot, but with more spicy wind variety, and strong hints of coming merry surfing times -**********- o
nly another winding will this stream make, only another murmur in this glade, and then shall I come to you, a boundless drop to a boundless ocean – k gibran ….
