Not the most exciting morning surfwise at Dee Why and the darkening skies aren’t making the scene any more attractive. Wind is out of the SSE at 10-15 kts so surface conditions are less than appetizing. What can ya do? Just how it is I guess.

At this stage it looks as though we’ll have pretty ordinary weather through the weekend. As the synopsis below indicates, the experts at the BoM aren’t quite sure how a low pressure system off the Central Coast will play out. The models reckon the likelihood is head high plus, short period and onshore windswell conditions.

Synoptic Situation
A Low is expected to develop east of the Central Coast during today as a ridge of high pressure develops over Tasmania. The Low is expected to move rapidly eastwards during Saturday. The exact development and position of the low, and hence the resulting winds around the low, are uncertain at this stage.

Strong Wind Warning
Friday until midnight: Wind: S/SW 20/25 knots easing and turning E/NE 10/15 knots during the day, Sea: 1 to 1.5 metres.Swell: SE/NE 1 to 1.5 metres.
Saturday: Wind: Early S/SE change 20/30 knots.Sea: 2 to 3 metres.Swell: S 1.5 to 2 metres increasing to S/SE 2.5 to 3 metres.
Sunday: Wind: E/SE 10/20 knots, easing.
