Dee Why: Still plenty of big ones out there this arvo
Posted on October 9th, 2009 in Surf Reports.Had a quick surf at the Point at lunchtime. Sill plenty of size out there. Raining and windy at 1530. Crew of less than a dozen out. You could have the entire beachie to yourself if you’re keen enough and brave enough to dodge the sneaker sets. Banks are holding up reasonably well on the outside but the shorey is pretty gnarly…

Nice at first
Posted on October 9th, 2009 in Surf Reports. But now the wind has blown out all but the southern end of the beach where some lovely head high sets are loving the high tide. This morning there were some great waves with still a fair bit of size – especially up the Queenie end of the beach. Its dropped a fair bit from yesterday arvo’s size. Lets hope it stays around for the weekend though in some shape or form. We deserve it.
Postcard from across the ditch

Still flat over here, but looking much more do-able than yesterday for Sydneysiders. Wind is SSW at 20-25 kts as I write this, so a bit strong for anything other than south corners I’d have thought. Bureau is calling for it to go more s and even SE over the next 24 hours, so surface conditions will not be too flash. Swell peaked overnight at close to 6 metres! Now it’s only 3.5. Tomorrow promises to be more SE’ly, so not ideal, but it sure won’t be flat
Have yourself a terrific day!
Dee Why: More civil today
Posted on October 9th, 2009 in Dee Why, Surf Reports. After yesterday’s diabolical conditions, things have mellowed a bit today with the wind backing off and the swell smoothing out substantially. Surprisingly, only a couple of guys out at Dee Why Point this morning at 0800 and can’t see anyone on the beachie, though they both look pretty good at the moment.

Logger Heaven & Sharky Bits In Byron Bay Today.
Posted on October 9th, 2009 in Byron, Local Colour.Log and ye shall receive, it was perfect long , but very soft lines in Byron Bay today. If you’re a log surfer, then you were in for a treat, if you’re strictly a member of the little whiteboard set then it would have been frustrating. Yes there’s more swell coming, but even with size the current banks at the Pass & Wategos are producing very slow waves. BUT the beaches, are,,,, nah stuff it, I’m not saying you’ll just have to look for yourselves. Today the wind was perfectly offshore, the sun was out, the water was warm and the families were playing with the little ones in the shallows. The bay was looking about as idyllic as it gets for loggin, and as usual there was much rejoicing as the loggers set their rails and found their rhythm and trim on the small yet perfect corduroy lines. Yet not all was as it seemed in Byron Bay today. Lurking in the shadows off the edge of the bank was the very same shark that’s been menacing the crew all week. It seems this guy is in no hurry to leave, so once again people take care. Having said that, the only real affect it this seems to be having on the crowds, is that we’ve all been huddling a little closer together In Byron Bay Today.
