Messy at Curly still- try Dee Why or Manly
Posted on October 10th, 2009 in Curl Curl, Surf Reports.Curly is still messy in the early SSW wind which is swinging SE as i write. Dee Why was fun and fat this morning with some good sized sets, and the point looked good too. Didn’t see manly in the flesh but I’d reckon it would be smaller than Dee Why. Crowded everywhere but worth a paddle. Enjoy.
Dee Why–smaller, weaker today
Posted on October 10th, 2009 in Surf Reports.Things have changed substantially from yesterday with the swell backing off to what looks like about a metre. A few dolphins were floundering around just outside the break at The Point.

I’m up the North Coast – plenty of waves..plenty of wind.. plenty of fun.
Wind, showers and some waves of dodgey quality forecast for Sydney… Enjoy.
Happy Birthday to Don!

Swell has cleaned up & wind has dropped (currently offshore!), but it still doesnt look that appetising anywhere I checked. Wallyworld is shut-downs, NN doesn’t like it from the south, Collaroy is tiny, and DY Pt just looks too full (though it was low tide when I checked). Still,….we have waves!!!
Early riser info
Posted on October 10th, 2009 in At large.Hello Friends,
Looks as though the swell has swung more SE overnight while continuing to weaken. It’s still averaging around 3 metres out at sea, but the period is a more windswelly 8 seconds. However, since there is some 10 sec component left in the mix, I’d expect the bomb sets to be solidly overhead.
It’s still dark in Sydney as I write this, so the early morning hour winds are, as usual relatively light. North Head was reporting 8-9 kts of WSW at 0400, while down at Little Bay the direction was SSW at 13-20 kts.
Here’s the latest from the Bureau:
Sydney Coastal Waters, Broken Bay to Port Hacking and 60nm seawards:
Friday until midnight: Wind: S 20/25 knots easing. Sea: 2 to 2.5 metres, abating.Swell: S/SE 3 to 4 metres, breaking dangerously inshore.
Saturday: Wind: S/SE 10/15 knots, reaching 15/20 knots during the morning. Easing to SE 5/10 knots during the evening.Sea: 1 to 2 metres, abating to less than 1 metre during the evening.Swell: SE 2 to 3 metres.
Sunday: Wind: SW/SE 5/15 knots, turning E/NE.
Monday: Wind: N/NW 10/20 knots, turning N/NE and increasing to 15/25 knots.
Low tide’s at around 530am and high’s a little after noon.
Your correspondent is off to the desert for three days, so I wish you all well and hope you get your share of the good ones!
