Where’d Everyone Go, In Byron Bay Today?
Posted by: Big Ben on October 20th, 2009Where’d everyone go In Byron Bay Today? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know the school holidays finished and everyones gone home, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. It was really quiet in Byron today, almost too quiet. So what gives? Simple, there was as close to no surf as it gets. Now there are many tousim types that will try to tell you there’s more to Byron Bay than surfing, and hey there probably is, somewhere. But the rhythm of Byron Bay is definitely linked to the waves, and that’s just the way it is. It could be cold, rainy and dark, yet if the waves are on, the town is firing. It’s like the town is plugged in to the moods of Huey from day to day. When Huey gets excitable and turns on some waves, the place just lights up as life in Byron begins to pulse with the rhythm of the swell sweeping into the bay. But when Huey’s feeling still and reflective, then all is quiet. Just as it was today, In Byron Bay.
