Cloudy early, should clear later
Posted on November 13th, 2009 in Dee Why.Hello Friends,
A chance of early showers this morning, but it’s due to fine up later. The latest buoy data is showing a 6 second period south windswell pushing weakly in to our shores. It’s almost two metres out at sea, but it’d be doing exceptionally well to be half that size at the exposed stretches. Of course those exposed spots will also be copping the 10-15 kts of south wind as well, so a very high level of keenness is required this morning.
The models are bouncing around a bit, but for the fourth day running, they’re showing a roughly 72-96 hour run of south swell with 10+ sec periods. Heights at sea may not push much above 2 metres, but with that energy setting, we should be looking at juicy and overhead sets at places that like the predicted S-SSE swell direction. Good to have some real waves in prospect after such a run of miserable smallness.

Posted on November 13th, 2009 in South Carolina.Thursday was a bit of surprise as the storm produced offshore winds at least a day or two sooner than expected. But it is moving VERY slow. The 15-25 mph offshore winds will continue along with 3-5 foot surf Friday and saturday along with decreasing wind speed for saturday and Sunday. It looks like a good surfing weekend ahead.

Ah the dreaded southerly
Posted on November 13th, 2009 in Manly.Woke me this morning. We had not shut the door correctly and it caused a little bit of chaos. The same can not be said for the ocean yet with nothing of note happening out there. And I would not really expect it to unless you love some knee high weak windy slop. I am looking to the future and like a few others of you out there are starting to get a little excited….yes it would appear we have a decent pulse coming our way. Lets not get to excited yet until we can confirm winds but all in all it looks the goods so far. Stay tuned.

Midweek Wedgies, In Byron Bay Today.
Posted on November 13th, 2009 in Byron, Local Colour.Just when it was looking like we’d settled into that summer pattern of gentle sea breezes, and long clean lines in the bay. Up pops another northerly just to remind us that spring isn’t over yet. The change in wind quickly emptied the town; it’s amazing how quickly people disappear when a nor’easter starts to drive into the bay. We did the rounds, and visited a few folks. BC Hats for a new shade for my melon, North Coast surfboards, for no other reason than to chat fins and really just annoy Evan and waste his time. Basically we did whatever we could think of while waiting for the tide to push back in. There’s a bank we knew would fire at high tide, and we were rewarded for our patience with some sweet little wedgies In Byron Bay Today.
