"Stay happy and you'll be perfectly fine" - Jack Norris

On the fade, but not gone

Hello Friends,

Back from the little sortie down the coast to find a few wee scraps of swell still coming in to Dee Why. It’s in the waist high range, but because the MHL buoy is still showing some 13 second component, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the very occasional bomb set that was a bit bigger than that.

The trend lines are all pointing toward small conditions through the weekend. Basically it looks as though we’ll only have weak and small mainly ENE short period windswell.

I didn’t get a chance to finish up my mini-blog of the trip down south yesterday as it was my turn to drive. After leaving Ulladulla we decided to check in on summercloud bay. Neither of us had been there in a decade or two, but it’s basically just exactly the same – right down to the tradition of leaving your car obviously open. Clearly the rip off situation is the same as it was back in the 70’s when I first visited the place.

After making the longish walk through the bush to that famous broad rock platform, we discovered that the NE wind had really picked up and was blasting along at 30+ knots. That didn’t deter a pack of 30+ mainly bodyboarders who were furiously paddling into the very consistent head high plus sets. I got a bunch of pictures which I’ll turn into a gallery later…

Gotta jam, more later today.
