Little again but not flat

Not looking too big this morning at Dee Why.

Hello Friends,

Swell faded pretty abruptly yesterday and this morning sees small to very small conditions. It’s looking like waist high with the odd bigger one at Dee Why beach. The little windswell is coming out of the NE and the breeze was light early, so there just may be spots with better exposure that are a bit bigger.

Tide notwithstanding, the plan is to go asap because a S-SE change is coming through soon and once that happens, I’d say the surf options will diminish pretty severely across the middle part of the day. The change may bring some improvement to size at beaches copping the brunt of the wind, so there could be some messy onshore wind waves for the late.

Although surf quality is only so-so, the water’s warming up nicely and for that reason alone it’s worth just going for a paddle.

Have yourself a great day!

Sydney Coastal Waters, Broken Bay to Port Hacking and 60nm seawards:
Friday until midnight: Wind: NW 10/15 knots inshore and 15/20 knots offshore, ahead of a S/SE change 20/25 knots early to mid morning, easing to SE 15/20 knots later.Sea: 1 to 2 metres, rising to 2 to 3 metres for a period during the day. Swell: E/SE 1 to 1.5 metres. Possible thunderstorms.
Saturday: Wind: Variable 5/10 knots at first, becoming E/SE 15/20 knots in the afternoon. Sea: less than 1 metre, rising to 1 to 2 metres in the afternoon. Swell: SE 1 to 1.5 metres.
Sunday: Wind: N/NE 15/25 knots.

Andrew Crockett

Andrew Crockett

Andrew Crockett is launching his new book – Switch-foot II – about surfing outside the world of competitions and tours. This is Crockett’s second volume and its focus is on the great divide between commercial, competitive surfing and the more laid back, surfing as artform side of the sport.

It features contributions from more than 90 prominent and not so prominent voices. And naturally, being a coffee table book, it also has lots of surfing imagery.

Andrew is doing the big launch at Heritage Surf on December 5, at 2pm.

Heritage Surf Manly is at:

24 Darley Road
MANLY NSW 2095
02 9977 7623.

BTW, if you miss the launch, you can still catch up with Andrew when he does a book signing at Westfield Bondi Junction’s Angus and Robertson at 1pm.

C C Smaller

Posted on December 4th, 2009 in Central Coast, Surf Reports.

Fine, dry and mild on the Central Coast this Friday morning.  The swell is smooth and smaller at 2 – 3 feet from the east southeast.  There is a light northwest breeze forecast to go south southeast later.  High tide at 1015 and low tide around 1700.  Local barometer 1009 hpa, 16 degrees C. 88% humidity.   Have a good weekend. For Sale -  I have a Surtech (Tuflite) Velzy 12 foot Hawaiian Paddle board (not SUP) for sale.  Excellent condition. $950.00 (cost $1600.00 + new).  This board is a standard (stock) class racing paddle board and goes like the clappers, very fast.  Good cross trainer for paddling on flat days.  If you are interested I can send photos.  Contact Matt at  ms2007@bigpond.com

Remember those amazing summer days when you were a grom? The sun shone all day, warm weather and water. The surf, not huge but it seemed about as perfect as it gets to you and mates, yeah? Well that’s the kind of day we had, well sort of a bit, in Byron Bay today. Yes it could have been less crowded than it was. But you know what? There were really good uncrowded waves to be had on the beachies, so if you didn’t  go claim some who’s to blame for that? As for the crowd, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It’s not a competition out there. Want to claim priority for every wave? Then go claim it in a comp, leave the attitude at the door. If you’re out in the lineup and playing tough guy, sooner or later the act wears thin.  So try and remember this. When you surf away from home, you’re in someone else’s home. How would you like to be treated at your home break? The answer is pretty obvious when you look at. So be cool folks, or better still be warm.  In Byron Bay Today.
