Summer’s Winding Up, In Byron Bay Today’s Weekend Review.
Posted by: Big Ben on December 13th, 2009Well that’s it for another year. The schoolies have left and the summer holidays have started. That’s if we include Queensland in the equation as their public schools finished their term on the December 11th. When Queensland is such a close neighbour to Byron Bay it’s kind of hard to not factor in their differing holiday schedules. I suppose we can say the summer holidays are officially on. So what’s that mean for us folks that live here, well yeah sure, more crowds and fewer parking spaces that’s a given. Maybe it’s a good time to start exercising all those groovy spiritual practices we’re so fond of here. Just winding you up guys, what it usually means is we get to see some old friends turn up and meet a few more. Many that come here come regularly, and many of us that live here were regular visitors once ourselves. It’s not a bad idea for us to remember that. It means the hustle and bustle of summer is well and truly on and sometimes it may try our patience, and at other times it’s all in good fun. It means we got to share a little more, and it means we have a right to a little respect from the newcomers as they pour into the bay. It means it’s probably going to be hot and humid and at times very beautiful. It means time marches on and waits for no one, because I swear it feels like summer 08/09 ended just yesterday, In Byron Bay Today.
