Grey, yeah, so what
Posted by: Don on December 20th, 2009Hello Friends,
Dull skies and light SE wind this morning. Not too fabulous looking it has to be said. Still, there were a fair number of bods in chasing the junky waist high sets at Dee Why. Swell is out of the south. It’s a couple metres out at sea and while the average period is around 8 seconds, there is some 12 sec component (which probably accounts for the surfable sets).
From the MHL data down the coast, it looks as though the swell energy will peak around lunchtime. It looks as though we’ll have to put up with the SE’r all day unfortunately.
The WAMs have been rather variable lately. This morning sees interpretations of the data all over the shop. There might be some small and weak remnants of our less than spectacular windswell tomorrow morning. The Bureau says the breeze will be light and out of the north to begin, so those northern stretches will possibly be the best bet for a splash.
The rest of the week is shaping up to be mainly small and marginal. There seems to be some hope for a little something at east swell spots around Christmas Day. Between now and then it’s going to be a challenge to find much of anything above waist high.
Hope those models are wrong…
Have yourself a top old day!
