10-20 kts of generally southerly winds and another broad band of rain threatening to push in later. Lovely. The MHL Sydney buoy feed has been restored (hooray from all of us buoywatchers) and it’s showing about a metre of 8 sec period SE windswell. Hmmm. Not to promising. I guess there might possibly be some junky little onshore things at the exposed spots, but not great prospects for memorable sessions.

It appears that Sydney surf conditions are really stuck in a pattern of smallness. The current reckoning is maybe another day or so of the current “size” then a day or two of flatness most places, before a return to – you guessed it – more of what we have right now. The models are showing a series of small but intense storms in the southern ocean, but as is usual at this time of the year, they’re being kept well away from the east coast swell window. The takeaway from this morning’s data is that we’re likely to be facing pretty much the same conditions for at least the next week (and probably longer). Guess we’ll all have to stick with our plan b. fitness regimes a little longer…

Synoptic Situation
A trough of low pressure is expected to remain in the vicinity of Seal Rocks over the next couple of days, maintaining north to northeast winds about the Mid North and Far North coasts and south to southeast winds about the Hunter, Sydney, Illawarra and South coasts. These winds may be fresh and gusty at times.
Sydney Coastal Waters, Broken Bay to Port Hacking and 60nm seawards:
Sunday until midnight: Wind: SW/SE 13/18 knots. Sea: 1 to 1.5 metres.Swell: SE about 1.5 metres.
Monday: Wind: S/SE 15/20 knots. Sea: 1 to 2 metres. Swell: E/NE 1 to 1.5 metres.
Tuesday: Wind: S/SE 15/25 knots.
