Little waves about
Posted on February 1st, 2010 in Dee Why.

Hello Friends,
Had to run an errand, so I turned it into a quick check-out on the way through. Had a look at Curly and can report that the little windswell looks ENE along that stretch. Bit soft and weak, but there’s enough face on the sets so that you can sometimes get a quick little turn or two before it fades or closes out. Good to know that all the indications are that it won’t be dropping below this size for the next week.
Earlier…
Under a deadline this am, so keeping it short. There seem to be some very small, but catchable waves getting into Dee Why beach this morning. We’re still a few days off seeing the arrival of east swell, but the primary direction of the little waist high windswell has shifted into the aforementioned quarter.
Thursday morning’s still looking the pick for the week ahead, but from now on you should be able to find something if you’re keen. The models show the swell really starting to build into the 2.5-3 m range from late Tuesday, early Weds
Will try to update later on today. Go well!

Hallelujah We Have Swell, In Byron Bay Today.
Posted on February 1st, 2010 in Byron.Yes it was windy and lumpy with strong currents and sure it was crowded, I mean really crowded. But after all it was Sunday in Byron Bay today, and regardless of all that we had finally had some swell, plus the weather maps are showing a strong indication of more on the way, but this year so far has made me cynical so I’ll believe it when I see it. I got to say, Huey it’s about bloody bloke. You’ve been a tad recalcitrant lately in the swell department. Having said that if the patterns hold, we could well be in for some catch up waves to reward us all for our patience. Now we’ve already had a few replies to yesterdays questions on surf safety and various other issues, and you know folks have some pretty interesting stuff to say, so keep them coming we’ll keep this open for a while, not sure how long yet, but rest assured we’ll let you know when it’s time to publish them. In the mean time folks get out and look around because bumpy as it may be there’s weird little banks firing up all over the place, In Byron Bay Today.
