very, very nearly flat

Posted on March 27th, 2010 in Big Picture, Dee Why.

Hello Friends,

Looks very small but not quite flat. There are a few little ones getting into the stretch between No Mans and Dee Why and between Gardens and Northy. However, it is really small. Knee high bomb sets and 5 metre rides is pretty much the story.

Outlook for the rest of the day is not too interesting. What we have now, is probably what we’ll have for the rest of the weekend… indeed, for the rest of the week. There is some evidence of a broad region of easterly swell developing to the NW of NZ late in the week, so there is a small chance we’ll get something of interest by next weekend.

Have yourself a terrific day!

Smaller than yesterday, but not flat

Posted on March 26th, 2010 in Dee Why.

Hello Friends,

Yesterday’s little south pulse started fading and swinging east at around lunch time. This morning sees the average height at sea around the metre mark and the all important power setting at a marginal 8s. Dee Why beach was showing a waist high line at around seven this morning. There were a few folks in amongst them too.

According to the Bureau we’re in for a warm day (29) and a summery NE wind regime (ie light early, 15-20 kts by lunch). So, open stretches early, north corners later.

Get out there and enjoy if you can because it looks as though we’re in for another run of nearly flat conditions around our region over the next few days.

Small and clean

Posted on March 26th, 2010 in Manly.

Morning….well it was a lovely sunrise this morning with a few clean 2 footers rolling through thanks to the 9 seconds of SE swell we have. High tide has just passed at 6:30 so expect things to get a little better as it heads out.  It was a little full on the high tide which did not seem to stop the crowd. If you have nothing better to do you might as well head down the beach and join the rest of the mob – yep she sure is a busy one. Its best down the Queensie end given the swell direction.  Expect the wind to stay favourable for a little while yet before the daily NE blows later on. Outlook for the weekend is much the same if not a tad smaller. Sorry.  Have yourselves a good one.

Creatures Of Leisure, In Byron Bay Today.

Posted on March 26th, 2010 in Byron.

It was just one of those days when it’s hard not to be grateful for the way things are in Byron Bay. There was beautiful weather; it was fairly cruisey in the lineup. The water was crystal clear and all in all, most folks were happily being creatures of leisure in Byron Bay today. There was another break in to a vehicle at the beach yesterday evening at The Pass. I gotta say whoever you are; pray the Police get hold of before the local crew do. The talk getting around the car park is of the perpetrator being castrated with rusty gardening secateurs if the crew catch them. Lock up your gear folks, there’s been a spate of car park thefts lately. We can and help each other out here, by keeping an eye on each other’s gear. We can stop this but only if we speak up when we see dodgy looking behaviour. To all those coming for Easter next week, drive safe people, be cool and remember a little respect goes a very long way, In Byron Bay Today.
