On Surfari v.2: er, okay, a bit better than small

Hello Friends,

It may be tiny at Byron and Broken Head, but from Lennox to north wall Ballina, there are waves to be had into the shoulder high range. Bit of a wait on sets but there weren’t many folk in the water this morning. Maybe it was the dull grey skies… ocean was glassy until at least 1100, so not quite sure what was going on. Not that we had any objections. Surfed the reefs out in front of Lennox on the lowish tide. High percentage of shutdowns, but every now and then a nice glassy little peak would stand up and the fun could begin.

Got out of the water and went for a cruise further south to see what was what.

Lennox had a dozen or so waiting through moderately longish lulls to get some very tasty looking specimens in the shoulder high range. Waves weren’t getting too far down the point, so it was really more like a right reef break. Around the corner at Boulder it was too small to have attracted any punters. The beach north of flat rock had one or two out chasing glassy peaks. At the various beaches between there and north wall, there were similar small groups playing on peaks. North wall had a reasonable size crowd, but not crazy. Coming back along the beach north from there, the lines were long and mostly shutting down, but there were a couple of solid and overhead sets while we watched.

Came back to Byron for a look and can report that Big Ben will probably be posting more smiling faces than peeling waves. The Pass was about as small as it can get and still be rideable (if you have 12 foot tandem board or similar).

Got a few snaps to share…

More later…

Go well!
