on sunday morning at 1030 am: 2 – 3 footers at our rivermouth point, long, fairly slow, gently crumbling lines – 3-minute sets every 6 – 8 minutes – but under very low tide, almost as low as i have ever seen – exposing huge portions of the pools on the east side of the point (the “southern pools”), down finally to the cobbles bearing kelp and seaweed – the southern pools are very shallow, as today highlighted – take-offs were cautious, but in under an hour i caught six – at first i was alone, but as conditions improved, our famed right-hand point break became mildly crowded by about 8 hoity-toity locals – major surfmobile traffic suggesting stronger conditions at the lost village beach, or the port (20 minutes past the lost village), which faces the open ocean around 70% – however conditions at ucluelet, some 150 km hence, don’t look too much stronger, similar breezy and ragged, but clearly surfable – clear and sunny, perfect summer weather as we beweep the horrors unfolding in our gulf domain – www.seizebp.org -**********- with immense poetic irony, we have the following sequential quote from the great kahlil gibran: empty and dark shall I raise my lantern, and the guardian of the night shall fill it with oil and he shall light it also -**********- \,,/ twitter – mercuryloge
