Hello Friends,

Interesting little late afternoon pulse yesterday but no real sign of it this morning at the Dee Why end of the beach. Swell is running at around the metre mark and is coming out of the SSE at 10 seconds apart. In theory, a little more should be showing at the aforementioned southern end, but there was just one person on a SUP having a poke around near the point. Otherwise the beach was empty from there to around half way to No Mans.

The good news is that latest run of forecast models for our part of the world have once again confirmed expectations for a reasonable size south pulse (up to about the 3 metre mark on faces at exposed spots). It’s still looking as though we’ll have to wait until Friday for it to get started. And in a spot of good news for weekend warriors, the peak energy currently seems most likely to occur overnight on Saturday and into Sunday morning for Sydney.

Certainly sounding hopeful, and that’s never a bad thing!

On another note, just thought I’d share the following from Scott. Always stoked to be able to help mate!

A big thanks to Phil at Raine & Horne Dee Why for valiantly trying to locate the owner of a board (me) accidently left at Curl Curl this week. A colleague of his spotted my posting on Real Surf & put us in touch with each other.
Thanks Don. -Scott

Fine, dry and cool on the Central Coast this Wednesday morning.  The swell smooth and small (almost flat) from the east.  There is a light west northwest breeze forecast to strengthen later.  High tide at 0830 and low tide around 1420. Local barometer is 1000 Kpa it is 6 degrees and 86% humidity.  Have a good one.

Hueys Pastilles, In Byron Bay Today.

Opportunities for waves were rare but for those who made the effort, timed it right and jumped through those windows when they opened. There were waves to be had, in Byron Bay today. The swell never really got over waist height, yet it did turn on some nice clean little peaks that worth paddling into. Add to that the joyous skies we were spoilt with most of the day, it was pretty hard not to not, just kick back and enjoy the view, In Byron Bay Today.

Late arvo waves at Longy 4.30pm

Posted on August 24th, 2010 in Longy.

There were a few waves out in front of the lagoon this afternoon.  About 2 – 3 foot left handers with a nice shape being held up by the wind.  Maybe signs of a few waves on the horizon late in the week or early weekend.

Changes are coming.

Posted on August 24th, 2010 in South Carolina.

The calm mornings for long boards is going to change now that we have a Hurricane in the Atlantic. Models show by Saturday a swell starting, but I must say after years of watching these storms, only those that are slow moving ever generat a decent ride. So make plans for the coming weekend. As far as tomorrow, again, calm fun waves in the 2 + range.

Sunny and flat.

Beautiful morning, shame about the surf

Posted on August 24th, 2010 in Dee Why.

Hello Friends,

Microscopic again this morning where Dee Why’s concerned, and given the swell settings (a metre from the south at 6 seconds), you’d have to guess the story is the same all across our region. But it’s a beautiful morning out there, so that has to be a good thing.

With no surf prospects today, a surfer’s thoughts (and mouse) turn to the forecast… and the latest run of data is looking, shall we say, heartening.

The latest run of the models, and the numerous prediction riffs run thereon, show a nice big fetch pointing our way late in the week. If it happens, Huey could pull the lever in a pretty good way and send us some solid overhead south swell from as early as late Friday. What’s more, from my reading of the charts, it really looks as though we could have pumping conditions right through the weekend and into Monday. And just to gladden my photographer’s heart, the call is for sunny weather too. Really looking forward to getting a few more pictures of you all!

Have yourself a top old Tuesday, may it all go well for you.
