Fine and Flat, That’s that!

Posted on August 19th, 2010 in Dee Why.Hello Friends,
The MHL buoy off Sydney is showing about a metre of short period NE windswell. Wind is out of the NW and expected to pick up, so your best hope of anything will be at the NE swell magnets which might have a tiny little set every now and then. Dee Why, not being on that list, is just about flat.
Huey seems to be getting into spring mode now and the outlook for the next week according to the swell models is for weak and small conditions. The latest synoptics are showing a persistant and large high sitting over the eastern half of the continent. It’s looking like it will bump the southern ocean lows away from our swell window for some days at least.
Oh well. Big weekend coming up for us political junkies and no doubt the prospect of imminent relief from the Julia, Tony and Bob show for the rest of you.
Have yourself a good one!

Had’nt been in the water for a while & thought bugger it I’m desparate to get wet so squeezed a quick mid week surf. In my rush to get back on the job I simply drove off! got all the way to Gladesville before realising my stupidity, drove all the way back to no avail.
Hoping a good samaritin picked it up reads your site (as most of us do).
Thanks.

Late arvo surf
Posted on August 18th, 2010 in Longy.Long Reef had small waves this afternoon long the whole of the beach. The wind wasn’t too bad about 1 – 1.5ft
North Easter powering
Posted on August 18th, 2010 in Manly. That north easter is powering and is getting into every where. Only the extreme northern corners are protected. The swell is only just knee height. Only the brave would venture out in these conditions considering the water temp. Your move…..
Dee Why — changing every few minutes today
Posted on August 18th, 2010 in Surf Reports.Been an odd morning in Dee Why — Small and clean early then a few head high sets, then nearly flat. Wind’s gone from W to NE, surf’s come up a bit again. Forecast says rain and there’s not a cloud in the sky. Who knows what the rest of the day will bring.
Met an interesting guy in Narrabeen last night, Nathan, who’s just back from India where he says he had some awesome surf on both coasts. He’s starting up a couple of web pages with info that looks pretty interesting.
Check out his stuff at:

Wind’s got stuck into the surf at 10am. Still some waves, but getting pretty messy.

Fine and cool on the Central Coast this Wednesday morning. The swell smooth and small from the east southeast. There is a very light west northwest breeze going more north later. Low tide at 0705 and high tide around 1345. Local barometer is 1013 Kpa it is 4 degrees and 92% humidity. Have a good one.
Well what do we have here?
Posted on August 17th, 2010 in Dee Why.Hello Friends,
Ah, now that is interesting. I was hoping we might see a little energy come our way later today, but first light sees some nice looking corduroy effects at Dee Why and a glance at the MHL Sydney data shows a couple metres of 9 second period swell from the south. Wind is out of the WSW at around 15kts on gusts.
The Bureau says it will go more southerly as the day unfolds. Looks like the plan will be to get in early if you can.
Outlook is for this little pulse to weaken gradually over the next 24 hours as we slump back into a stretch of more marginal conditions.
A good mate of mine is out from California atm, so we’re going to make a quick surfari north to see what we can find… if we find anything, you’ll hear about it!
Go well with your day.

Nice down at Long Reef.
Posted on August 17th, 2010 in Longy.Long Reef had some nice waves just after lunch. The Bombie was about 3 – 4 foot but suck up just wasn’t doin’ it like last Saturday. Most were closing out. Still, the conditions were nice with a very light NE blowin. Maybe good for an arvo surf…
