Look to the corners

Hello Friends,

Wind was NE but relatively light to begin with this morning, so the surface was a bit cleaner than yesterday for the early risers. Swell settings are pretty similar to this time yesterday as well, ie it’s out of the east at a couple metres with a period just a touch under 8 seconds. There is some 10 sec peak stuff in the mix though and that ought to deliver the odd chest high plus set.

Low tide is around 0930 this morning and as a consequence the beachies are crunching over but not in the main showing many peaks. While there was a crew on it at the Northy end of the Collaroy-Narrabeen stretch, it was just shutdown city along the rest of the beach. Not a single punter in the water that I could see.

No Man’s to Dee Why was clean enough, but there only three or four people in the water. They were up toward the pole and having to scratch around a fair amount to find something.

TIDES: L @0930, H @1515

Outlook is still reasonable for a pulse of ENE swell this weekend in the Sydney region. It seems that we’ll have a lot of NE wind with it on Saturday, so that will likely limit the opportunities to the north corners. But there should be reasonable size because the models are still calling for 11-12 sec periods on Saturday, stretching out to a juicy 12-14 seconds on Sunday. Woohoo!

I will definitely be out and about with my camera, hoping to add to my galleries of regular folks at their best.

A couple things to mention this morning: first, I’ve set up a post code survey and would really appreciate if you could fill it in. It’s totally anonymous of course, but knowing where our audience broadly comes from will be very helpful. We’ve really been slammed on the advertising front lately so I’m really scratching around to get some other income stream(s) happening.

Second thing is to mention that Surfrider Foundation is going to celebrate the Duke’s day at Freshwater this Sunday with a beach cleanup. We’ll be down there from about 0800, so look out for our groovy tent.
